3 years ago I ported our Verizon landline to a Sprint cell AAP, on our shared family plan.
The landline had cost us about $50/mo. The Sprint cell line costs $10/mo, so we save $500/yr.

since most of the family is on Sprint, M2M takes care of most of the talk time, and Pick3 handles the home to work calls, so impact on our minute usage has been very little.

The Xlink BT box interfaces this "home" cell phone to our house phone wiring, so all the same house phones are able to use the cell line -- no change in house phone behavior.

A 2nd "house" phone line is being provided by a MagicJack.

Since everyone has a cell, plus the house cell, plus MJ (and not counting Skype), our 4 person family has at least 6 phone lines worth of talkability...

I use voicepulse VOIP and Verizon for alarm

I use unite voip, they have very good service and very affordable

What landline/VoIP provider do you use?
PhonePower (.com)

What plan are you on?
$19.95 unlimited no contract

How long have you been with them?
3 months

How is the quality?
Perfect, have had no problems with it on my Comcast connection - Best Internet VoIP I have ever used (Vonage, SunRocket, Packet8).
I don't think anything can beat Cable VoIP like Comcast Digital Voice since the QoS is guaranteed and not over the public Internet.. but PhonePower has been great!

I just downgraded my landline/DSL combo with Embarq. I had the $60 plan for local home phone package and 3.0Mb internet. I called up Embarq to cancel the landline but I was offered the landline for $20 (CID and speed dial only) and DSL for $20... the DSL by itself is $40 so I decided to keep the landline

I use no land line but has a T-mobile prepaid mobile phone. I also have Onesuite VoIP service which is also pay as you go.

T-mobile for more than a year. Onesuite for more than 2 years I guess.

Quality is okay. Not perfect but also not worse than the others.

I have Vonage and it is $24.99/month for unlimited everything (all of the features). After taxes it is about $32. Then I have a second line, that I don't really use, but that is about another $10/month. So, less than $50/month for two lines. One is unlimited and the other isn't.

I pay $0.00/month for my phone service because I was able to get it for free..

I have T-Mobile @ Home for 10 months with no problems ($10/month). I did have Vonage before that for 2 years with no issues either.

I've been using Ooma for about 5 months. It has been flawless.
I have Comcast cable modem for my ISP.

via talk. 2 year special 199 and get a second outbound line. have had it for over 8 months without issue

Using Ooma for about 4.5 months, ported the Verizon landline over.

It has been fantastic! Use it with Cablevision Optonline internet service.

I used Vonage starting in like 2002 ( it was a while ago, I just forget the exact date ). Quality was good, but the constantly rising price was a huge turn off, for a year or so it seemed like every month they tacked on a new fee. Cancellation was a nightmare that took several months and irate phone calls to complete.

Switched to VoicePulse two+ years ago and have been very happy. Quality is good, price is right, and when you call you don't get someone from India who spends 45 minutes having you do useless things, the support people actually know the technology.

So it's been probably 7 years since I had a regular phone line and going on 2 years since I had a cell contract or cable tv.

Still use RoadRunner for internet, but only because it's one of the few that's decent around here.

I agree. I had AT&T CallVantage because I didn't want to go with Vonage. With CallVantage, I paid $32 after fees a month. The same base plan price with VoicePulse costs me $26.

This is something almost everyone I know that has used Vonage has told me and the main reason I didn't even try them. I was getting pretty close when several people warned me.

I forgot to mention they reneged on my contract as well. When I bought the unit they clearly said that after 12 months when I leave they unlock the ATA. They flat out said "we don't do that anymore". So on top of the nightmare cancellation I'm left with a paperweight ATA that I paid for.

It can be unlocked. Is it the linksys PAP2? If so, what version is it?

I have a computer I found in the road ditch. I hooked a Magic Jack up to it for the home phone.

Gets the job done.

I am using ooma. I have used it for about six months. I use comcast cable. Ooma has worked flawless except for being unable to receive Sprint cell phone call. I am currently working to resolve this issue (see thread in another part of this forum.)

If you go with Ooma be sure to purchase the device at Costco if you are a member. Should Ooma business plan not work out, Costco has great return policies.
