NE2 vs. 2-Year Contract Price

Hello, my first NE2 is coming up and I am a bit confused on how the pricing for a phone upgrade works.

So I'm interested in the Samsung Alias 2, and this is what the "See available upgrades" page looks like for me currenlty.

My question is, does my NE2 credit of $50 that I get soon be applied to that $29.99 price, making it -$20.00? Also, what is the difference between NE2 and "2-yr contract price," since both require you to have been through 20 months I think?

Thanks in advance for helping someone who's new to this!

The final price of the phone is $29.99

Hmm, so I don't understand. If $30 is the price I can get it for before my NE2 is even up, and you're saying that $30 is the final price once I get my NE2, then what exactly is my NE2 going towards? Where is it being credited to?

It sounds like you are already up for an upgrade and have the NE2 discount available and the "Promotion Credit" that is referenced in the screenshot refers to your NE2 discount--so it's already accounted for there, bringing the total price down to $29.99 after the online discount and your NE2 discount.

The other possibility is that you are a VIP customer, and you are actually not up for an upgrade and your NE2 is not yet available, but as a VIP customer you are allowed for an early annual upgrade that allows you to upgrade 12 months into a 2-year contract provided that you renew again for another 2-year contract, an thus pay the 2-year contract price, and since you are a VIP customer you also get an extra $50 discount for that early annual upgrade.

As for prices, the 2-year contract price is what anyone who signs up or renews for a 2-year contract would pay. The NE2 is an extra discount off the 2-year contract price (since not everyone qualifies for the extra NE2 discount given that there are requirements for it).

I think the promotional credit is your NE2. I just checked on line, and in my area 2 year pricing as a new customer is $149.99 after the $50.00 online discount.

thanks all, you seem to be right. I talked to a verizon representative and they told me that the price shown is with NE2 already factored in. What she couldn't explain and what bothers me is why the site was showing the price before my NE2 was even up. What's the point of waiting the 20 months for NE2 if I could get it at that discounted price before my NE2 was even up...

I've actually checked with a NE2 eligible account and the NE2 discount that appears is listed as "New Every Two Discount" or something to that effect, not something like "Promotion Credit". So, it could very well be that you are simply up for an annual upgrade and you are a VIP customer. That, or perhaps through some means your line is eligible for some (early) upgrade promotion, with perhaps even some credit, and that's why you are seeing what you are seeing.
