I was wondering if someone who is very familiar with porting numbers within a carrier and IN and out of a carrier can help me out. I was wondering the policies of carriers both post paid and pre paid companies regarding porting numbers. If someone wanted to port their number from a post paid to another post paid, from a post paid to a pre paid, from a pre paid to another pre paid, from a sprint phone to a boost/virgin mobile, etc
If you go from a boost to another boost can you keep your minute balance? does porting dependent on changing area code, being in a contract, etc? Are there carriers who dont allow porting at all? I know its alot and I do appreciate your help in this matter.
I am interested in these companies:
Tmobile
Verizon
AT&T
Sprint/Nextel
Tmo Prepaid
Verizon PrePaid
AT&t Prepaid
virgin mobile
boost mobile
Net 10
Trac phone
As far as prepaid, can you say "I want to port my boost mobile number to another boost mobile phone (and keep my balance)? and also the same with the rest?

And can someone tell me which prepaid carriers besides at&t and tmobile use a sim card. I heard boost and tracphone and net 10 use sim cards. You can switch a at&t post paid sim into a pre paid phone and the same with tmobile (tmo post paid to prepaid phone)? are tracphone and net 10 compatible sim cards? Thanks for everyones help!!
