(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

DOes anyone know how to enable Field test mode on Nokia GSM phones (6190, 7190, 8290, etc). If it is a file I need to Load from LogoManager, where do I get this file???

Thanx in advance...

Try *3001#12345# and then enable Field Test. Although I think these models may require a data cable to access test mode information. If you have a data cable you'd be able to retrieve any piece of information on Nokia's GSM phones as well control many of the phone's features through your PC. You can read and send SMS messages, read and update the phone book, etc.,

Have fun!

You'll need to use a datacable for GSM phones. I don't think it's possible to do so just using the code.

Thanks, but the TDMA field test code does not work with GSM phones (my 8290, at least).

Anyone else have an idea???

Get a data cable.

you must have a data cable or find someway to downoad the software via the IR port on the 8290. I don't know if that last option would work but i know the data cable will

Thanks guys for the info...

I've got IR and logoMGR up and running, does anyone know where I can get the SW to DL to the phone?

Hey yall this may be a weird Q for yall but im just curious about what all those NET MONITOR & FIELD TEST do for your phone?

Posted by: todwan

Field Test / Net Monitor allows you to monitor about 50+ pages (depending on sw version) of RF and phone related info regarding the activity of the network and the mobile station (your phone).

The most useful thing is that it allows you to see each available cell, it's traffic channel, recieve level and output power of your phone...among many other, "stuff"

so basically you can see what other phone activities is there and track their number?

No. Just your phone.

Well, yeah, I guess.

It doesn't spell it out for you in plain english. With GSM, you can hold down the * key and it will basically tell you what you're looking at on each page. With a TDMA phone (5160,6160,7160,8260, etc), you'll need to look up Nokia Field Test info on the net. It will give you a look into what you're looking at on your phone. Depending on your interest level, this mode is a powerful tool for diagnosing network issues (dropped calls, why your phone doesn't work in your house, etc...)

Comprendes...
