Hi, just wondering if anyone knows where I can download the driver for the Samsung Vice (SCH-R561)?
I plugged the USB cable into my phone and my PC, but it didn't auto install a driver, it also doesn't come with a CD and can't seem to find it on the Samsung site and also tried to find it in Google, but still no luck!

It should load as a generic mass storage device
What OS are you running? (XP or better wont need a driver)

Should be the standard Samsung CDMA Modem driver,

Just curious (sorry if i highjacked the thread).. Is there any way to sync this phone with outlook for contacts or calender? Maybe with Samsung's PC Studio?

I tried to connect my VICE to the laptop and it doesn't detect it either. It looks like the phone companies don't want you to be able to connect it to your pc. I went to the Samsung site and this is the message in their FAQ section... "Samsung phones are not created to upload/download information from computer to phone or vise versa. Please contact your service provider for further details." ... http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/...BABMC&menu=faqs

I'm also looking for info about this..
ive tried eveything i can think of. Ive tried connecting with bluetooth and over usb. There must be a way to transfer ringtones and such over without paying bell for their poor and over priced tones and backrounds etc.
If anyone can help would be greatly appreciated.

GO to your Menu and select VIDEO
then 3. Memory card
then 1.Connect to PC
This is the only way to connect
Use your Windows explorer(my computer to see what files are on on the the memory card.
The only thing I have managed to do is load mp3's on to the phone--thats all that works as far as I know.
That program from Samsung does NOT work with this phone.(Samsung's PC Studio)
If anyone has more info on file transfers or what can be transfered--_PLEASE POST

I am on Virgin Canada and GPS is disabled---there is NO Sim card and the only app they have is the music player(JAVA---SOUNDBAR).
NEED cracking codes and the instructions to do it!!!!
PLEASE

Alright since I'm the one that started this thread asking for a driver for this phone, because my PC didn't seem to understand what was being plugged in...
So anyways, I have found a driver for it, well actaully I found it a long time ago but forgot to post it up here, so sorry for the users that still hasn't found a driver.
Here is the direct link to the file:
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...iver_4.40.7.exe
Download it, unzip it, then click the Setup.exe file and it will then install it, you will then need to restart the computer and then after connect your phone with the usb cable and your computer should now understand it.
To put data on the phone, I have tried to use BitPim but had no luck with it yet..
I tired other ways too but no luck either way.. So I'm still trying to figure it out.
Also for the ppl saying to email my phone the ringtone or to text the ringtone to the phone, those methods do not work for Canadian phone companies like Telus, Bell, Koodo... Not sure about Rogers and Fido though.

If you have a data plan, just upload your ringtones to http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/ from your home computer.
Then it will give you a download link. Go to that link with your phone, and it will download your ringtones to the my downloads/ringers folder.
Works perfect! And free with a data plan!

J---you're awesome----THANK YOU
Works perfect!!!!!

The method that JSmythe wrote it will work on Virgin Mobile Canada but not on Bell Mobility Canada.

actually im with bell and rumkin worked great for me

My bad, the rumkin phone uploader does work pretty good with Bell and also tried it on a Telus phone and worked great. Its also a pretty easy way to get games and apps on to phones aswell.

How do I find the serial number for my new Vice, I looked behind the battery and I find an 18 digit number followed by a 14 digit number... no 11 digit ESN?
Also if anyone knows where to find programming instructions with Master Lock Codes that would be superb! thanks

Rumkin works great with the Vice, that's how I got games on my friend's phone

I don't know if this will help anyone or not, but in my instance (windows XP) to get my phone recognized by the computer was fairly easy.
Plug your USB cable into the phone.
"Found New Hardware Wizard" should come up. Click "Cancel" button.
Go into your phone menu and go into "Tools"
Scroll down to 6: Mass Storage
Enter that menu and click 1: Connect to PC
That works for me and it shows up as a new drive in my computer
You should be able to see your phone in there.
I have a memory card in mine so I can upload some stuff. I am not sure if you can do the above ^ with just a phone with no card.
I think some of you are trying to get into the actual system on the phone and I have been researching for months to do this and good luck. Samsung really locks that phone down. Never had one this locked down before. Miss Nokias and Moto's.
Good luck!

Hey Guys,
I am not new to the forums, but I can't remember my old login info., so I had to re-register.
Anyway I purchased 2 Samsung Vice's, (SCH-R561), this Christmas, through Virgin Mobile, for both of my teens, and I have run into the exact same issue with transferring/loading content from the phone 2 PC & the PC 2 phone.
So I did a little research, and found out that apparently a person needs the, "PC Studio 3.1 software", to access such features.
Anyway, the link below is 2 the, "PC Studio 3.1 Software/Description/User manual, from the Samsung Mobile US site, so I hope this helps.
I also wanted to point out that I have downloaded the software, but have not yet had a chance to test it, but I will be testing it out later today, so I will report back with any results.
