Dilemma with UD plan

So I recently lost my touch, a friend of mine gave me the instinct, not a fan really, too easy to use, gps does not work, and battery is not great. Im just about to try a friends motorola Q. Also my sister has a touch and she wants to get rid of it, I know we could switch phones since she wants a very basic phone. What im wondering about is cooked ROM's, do any of you use it, is it better? Lemme know as I do want to have a phone that is compatible with the unlimited data plan, and has GPS.

Thanks
Chris

Wirelessly posted (the touch: BlackBerry9530/4.7.0.122 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/109)

A cooked ROM is the only way to go on the touch.

I've cooked my 6800 more than I can remember. take a look at xda-developers and ppcgeeks for information on cooking the Touch.

My sisters touch has some problems, wondering if some of those problems will likely go away with the cooked rom or will it keep some of the problems(sometimes doesn't ring when its called, sometimes calls wrong number, and some other small things)

crispy, I had some of those probs before. Cooking helped eliminate most of my probs..

it's a shame Bell's own engineers simply didn't purchase NSFan's cooked ROM for $10 each and ship the device with that instead of the crap they developed on their own.

I don't know what's involved in the phone development, but I would guess Bell doesn't develop the roms. Probably HTC writes them to Bell's specs.

Buy for 10$ something that is illegal (NSFan is redistributing unauthorized versions of WM6/6.5 which is an IP liability if Microsoft decided to sue him...

True but then all those people would run out and go buy berries with 15$ unlimited email and install opera......

It's not Bell, it should be HTC. I do agree that Bell should leave their "Bell experience" though
