Nationwide Basic Plan used in Canada

Can someone tell me specifically how things are charged when I use my phone in Canada? I will be visiting Vancouver for 1 week and I haven't been able to find a definite answer....not sure how voice and text would be charged.

For example, I have the new Nationwide Basic Plan (just switched over last month when I bought my enV Touch). If I sign up for the $5 text plan (250 messages), how much would the following cost when I am in Canada?

1) In Canada...text to a US number
2) In Canada...text to Canadian number
3) In Canada...voice phone call to US number
4) In Canada...voice phone call to Canadian number

I keep getting confused with how the wording is done for "international texting". Some people report that the text would come from the text allowance of the $5 plan.

Per http://b2b.vzw.com/international/Ro...ica/Canada.html it seems that voice calls from CA would run at $0.69/minute.

Per http://b2b.vzw.com/international/Te...ging/index.html and various discussions on the topic here at HoFo, messaging should simply be counted as domestic messaging as if you were just texting a US number from US.

Simply do a price plan change to the Nationwide + Canada plan for the billing cycle while you will be there. It is a tremendous value and all of your Canada calls will be same as in the US.

But would the $0.69/min be calls to both US and Canada?

Same goes for texting...would it be counted as domestic messaging (against my 250 minutes) for both a text to US and Canadian number?

I'm just trying to save some money since I don't plan on calling a whole lot. The text would come in handy as long as it only counts towards my 250 text minutes and I wouldn't have to pay anything.

Can someone confirm regarding texting IN Canada? I keep getting different answers from different Verizon reps....some say that if I'm texting FROM Canada, it is considered international roaming.

nevermind....it was confirmed...

Just got my bill which included the time I was in Canada...

Using text while in Canada just deducted from the 250 minute allowance...however, I did see I was charged a data roaming charge which I am assuming was from the picture messages I sent. I have a call in to Verizon to see if that data would be credited back since all the customer reps I talked to told me that using the txt/messaging in Canada wouldn't cost anymore. I don't know where else the data could have come from except the Backup Assistant (but was also told that I wouldn't get charged since I wouldn't be in network and the Backup Assistant would simply just fail to connect).
