I live in North Jersey and am looking to probably switch from Cingular to Verizon. I heard about the Audiovox 8600 and 8900 coming out soon. How are audiovox phones in general? Are they reliable and good quality? I am also thinking about taking a look at the LG-VX6000 when it comes out. Thanks

I've owned 2 Audiovox phones with Verizon, the 4500 and currently a 9500. Gave away the 4500 to a friend and it's still going strong.
The 9500 is amazing and frustrating at the same time. Just a few annoying shortcommings.
The general consensus is Japanese/Toshiba made Audiovox (4500 9000 9100 9500 etc) are great phones, excellent build quality. The Korean/Hyundai made models are inferior. I wouldn't recommend the latter.

The Korean couterpart does. However, I have this phone and it is pretty good. Dropped it a few times, no crack or anything.

I have an 8500. I think it sucks. If you have the option for low end, go for nokia.

look at the FCC ID on the back of the phone, if it starts with a C, it's a Toshiba, if it's a P, it's a Hyundai.

I've got a CDM-8500, it's a sweet phone. Ringtones are great, nice features. I've also dropped mine a couple times. No major injury, just some scratches.
