New toy! (GR STi)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Finally picked up a new daily driver/winter toy.

2008 Subaru STi - Spark Silver (love silver )

Already did Stage 2 tune with full turbo back exhaust and a whole bunch of upgraded bushings (transmission, sub-frame, rear differential, shifter, suspension) and an in dash navigation because I couldn't find one with navigation from the factory.

Next order of business is upgraded sway bars (front and rear) and some winter wheels/tires.

Overall the car is A BLAST to drive!! Espically with stage 2 tune! I was looking for a daily driver for a few months, test driving a bunch of different things (3-series AWD, S4, TT quattro, G35x and G37x) but after I drove a co-workers 08 STi, I FELL IN LOVE! I cannot wait for some snow! I took it to a rally course last weekend, and had some fun in the dirt, but there are too many rocks (got 2 deep deep scratches on the passenger door), but I got a feel for what its going to be like in snow.

Here is a quick picture I took the other day after she got tinted, I will find some time and take more soon.

There is an issue with the ringlands, but the number of motors that have been effected are so small compared to the amount of motors built. A lot of the issues are coming from modifying the vehicle and not having the proper tune.
Plus they honor the issue under warranty. I knew about this issue before I bought mine, but I did not think twice, and that issue did not bother me.

My buddy has an '05, and he's had more trouble with the STi, than any other car he's previously owned. He's been trying to sell it for the past 6-months, and he's had a couple people actually show up.

The car is a money trap. I hope you're prepared.

Looks really long from that picture...

I recall you saying your family owns a Chevy dealership. What do they think of your purchase? :P

That is fing awesome! I love those cars, just don't want the hefty payment.

Sweet ride. Practicality of a wagon with Sti performance.

I bought it because someone wanted to trade it in and our wholesaler wouldn't give us enough money for it, so I said if we take it in on trade I would buy it. It is used, but in PERFECT PRESTINE condition!

The wheels are the stock STi wheels, I am going to go with some cheapie 17" winter wheels and snow tires.

I was shopping around for an AWD daily driver, just happen to fall into this one and I LOVE IT! Couldn't be more happier! The interior is the BEST part! With the stage 2 upgrades its now my second silver spaceship haha.

Here are a few more pictures I took with my iPhone.

(not sure why the bumper looks lighter than the quarter, but tis not in person)

The brake lights and mirror turn signals were already LEDs from the factory.

I replaced every bulb that was easily accessable with a LED: Dome light, map lights, cargo light, glove box light, door lock button lights, window button lights, interior turn signal arrows, front and rear turn signals (amber LED), backup lights and the license plate lights.

You have to make sure you get some low ohm resistors when replacing your turn signals with LEDs, if you dont you will get "hyper-flash" because the car thinks the light is burnt out (because they are drawing less power).

white LED on the left and stock bulb on the right

Looks great. Previous STI owner myself, and always fun cars. I generally prefer the evoX for handling feel, but the STI looks so much better IMO. Especially in Silver. Congrads
