(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: wolfftek

I am currently looking for the verizon monster file for the a455. If anyone has this can you please post the link to it.

Thank you in advance.

Posted by: wolfftek

I got what I needed.

Posted by: trevor146

umm how? im looking for a different mp to try out on my rival... ****ing koodo disables half the touch screen, and threaded texting... i bought the phone cause it had threaded texts... then go to use and nope. it doesnt have. does verizon allow it?

Posted by: dream_noir

I would also be very interested in this.

Posted by: trevor146

Wow, thanks wolftek. That ended up being a huge *****, but was totally do able.... ReFlashed my Moto rival from Koodo to Verizon firmware..... beautiful, i advise this UPGRADE for anyone with a rival from Koodo. Just remember to take down all your nam info and save your websession. Lol i spent four hours with customer service to convince them to give the nam info so that i could get the phone to work again.

Posted by: dream_noir

If at all possible could you post a link to the firmware and process you used? I'd like to flash mine as well, the more info the better but if I have the files I'm sure I can figure it out.

About the information you have to save more detail would be good too since I don't want to miss anything.

Thanks for giving this a shot.

I'm sorry you had to go through all that trouble. I'm glad you got it up and running.

Posted by: trevor146

the process is easy, go to the phone menu ##program the send.... take down your nam 1 and nam 2 info.... go to your websession, take down that info, or steal the file for it off the phone with p2k before you reflash.... Once you have all the info down, open rsd lite, make sure you phone is connected, open up the mp file... click reflash and let it go, the process takes about 5-10 min on my 2ghz dual core. Anyway once hte phone is up open the program menu, re-enter all the nam info and websession info... and viola! Should be good to go.

Posted by: dream_noir

Does this monster flash file exist anywhere? Would still love to do this upgrade but the file isn't available anywhere =\

Posted by: DementedJohn

I also just bought this phone for the threaded sms, and a few other things. I would love to reflash my phone with the verizon version. But when I look for my NAM info...i only have NAM1, not multliple. And for the WEBSESSION info...i actually have no idea what that is.

Can anyone shed some lite on the other nam info or the websession info?

Thanks...and maybe a link to the file.

Posted by: trevor146

you only need the first nam information, your websession is a file on the phone itself, and i will up a link to the file shortly, i just havent had the time lately...

Posted by: nat4210

can you please. telus is killing my phone

I need NAM 1 INFO
And verizon flash thinger file
And the others.

what version of P2K works with the koodo phone. I have 6 and it wont recognize it

Posted by: zbergeron01

Has anyone confirmed that this has worked? Can someone please post a type of tutorial with information on the software needed to perform this "master flash" such at wat version of p2k to use!?
Thanks in advance

Posted by: wolfftek

Trevor146 would be ther person to answer you question? where are you located?

Posted by: zbergeron01

i you mean what country then Canada and im with Koodo Mobile

Posted by: fricker69

can anybody give me a hand with getting rsd lite AND p2k to recognize my phone and a walk through on how to properly flash the verizon monster firmware to my koodo rival. im sick of koodo limiting the touch screen and threaded texting. any help would be great

Posted by: trevor146

ok, first off install motorola phone tools, once you have that it will install all the proper and newest drivers for your phone. Once you have to drivers installed go to p2k, you need atleast version 5 for it to work, you should be able to just plug in, select the phone mem and re read it. Mine worked fine with koodo, doesnt wanna read properly now with the verizon stuff. Even if p2k wont work RSD lite should once you have all the drivers installed. Plug in your phone with RSD lite running and all the additional interfaces that you might have missed should come up. If RSD lite wont detect, find motorola PST and have that open while trying to connect to RSD lite.

Once RSD lite finds your phone were ready to start.

MAKE SURE TO REMOVE YOUR MEMORY CARD, OTHERWISE IT WILL BE ERASED.
Step 1: NAM INFO. Go into your nam info, believe the code is ##program send, take down all the info for nam1 and nam2, then look @ extended nam and take down that info too.
Step 2: Browser info, go to the browser menu ##browser send and take down all the info for your koodo websessions, alternatively if P2K works you can just back up the websessions file.
Step 3: Your Info, connect the phone to the computer, connect to motorola phone tools, back up all your contacts and any other info on hte phone
Step 4: Flash! : Go to RSD lite, load up the monsterpack you have, connect your phone and hit the ****ing switch, this is the time to be nervous. lol. The process will take five - ten min depending on your computer. Once it tells you to restart the phone your golden!
Step 5: Reload data : Go back into that ##program menu, go to user activation, re enter in all your nam1, nam2, and extended nam data. Go to the browser menu, ##browser, re enter your web sessions data, or just reload the file with p2k. Finally connect to motorola phone tools and reload your contacts / calender / etc. At this point its safe to re insert your card.
Step 6: Throw hands up in the air, celebrate, say **** koodo.

Posted by: trevor146

PS it def works, i did it! lolz. Of course tho i didnt have this guide. lolz. and also, always just get the newest version of something if it wont work at first. P2K is a great program but it always has problems for some people, ninety percent of the time tho, you either dont have the newest version or your missing some drivers. Good luck guys and merry xmas

Posted by: fricker69

okay guys you have helped me enormously!
i have got rsd lite to work and it recognizes my phone
but when i try to get my nam info and such, it wants me to
"enter service code" i have no idea what it could be please help asap

Posted by: wgbobbobly

Most likely it is going to be 6 zeros. That is the SPC and all Verizon phones are 000000. (Except for prepaid phones)

Posted by: fricker69

its not 000000 or 333333 ive tried alot of numbers

Posted by: zbergeron01

I would also like to know the service code and can anybody put a link to the koodo master file incase something happens and i wasnt to reset the phone

Posted by: zbergeron01

Ok im going to answer my own question and try to help anybody else: for Koodo Mobile, go on koodo.com, go to selfserve, click Ecare Account Details, click changer phone and look at your 18 digit code (COPY IT) and try changing the last digit to another number, it will say equipment changed, then repat the process and change the number back to the original one, click confirm and a chart of information will appear with your Service/Unlock code... u can access the programming menu by dialing ##83587, then press talk and it will ask for the code!! VOILA!!! hope that helps

Zak

Posted by: fricker69

man you're a genius!!!!!!
it actually worked
****in koodo :P

Posted by: fricker69

hey i got a new problem (N)
i went to flash the verizon firmware to my rival
and it gave me the error message:
"failed flashing process. failed flashing process. unable to retrieve initialization values from INI file. (0x7029); phone connected" what should i do?!

Posted by: DementedJohn

i still can't get the phone to be recognized by MPT or M PST to work on Windows 7. I have downloaded all the latest drivers, the latest versions of MPT and M PST and RSD LITE and P2K and nothing.

Posted by: zbergeron01

i got the same error as fricker!!! my phone has completely died i cannot even turn it on, permanent black screen, its dead, called koodo, will give me loner phone and send rival for repair =S DO NOT TRY THIS!!!!!

Posted by: fricker69

man that sucks! i really need a fix to this problem im so close to flashing over to verizon!

Posted by: philly001

I would love to see this working I personally have the Rival with Koodo and hearing all this stuff about the verizon flash seems really neat, Now I see above that it looks like Trevor made it happen? I dont even wanna touch my phone until i see a few more sucess stories, if anyone has made it fromm koodo to verizon plz let me know and maybe put up a video tutorial??

Posted by: karlthegewgaw

Are you certain your phone is "dead"? Did you try removing the battery for a few seconds and then powering it back on? From the error message it doesn't seem like your phone went through the flashing process. Did you get this message right away or after a few minutes? Could it be possible that RSD Lite just left your phone in a state where it was ready to receive commands via USB and just waited there indefinitely with your screen powered off? powering on/off might not work in this state

What version of RSD Lite are people using? Which were successful and which weren't? You might want to try a relatively new version like 4.5.5 or 4.5.7.

You could also try uninstalling motorola phone tools, RSD Lite, and P2KCommander and reinstalling them (I saw this as a fix for this same INI missing error message on another thread, but I figure they upgraded RSD Lite after uninstalling and this is what fixed the issue).

@anyone who has succeeded in flashing their phone from Koodo/Telus to Verizon...
Do you have fully working bi-directional MMS?
I see that trevor146, on another thread, mentioned having issues with sending I believe.

If the only thing that really doesn't work is video recording, then you may be able to find a JavaME application that can use the hardware and do capture (not sure of the availability of such an app though).

Posted by: trevor146

no mms, cant recieve or send. no mobile net, ITS THE WORST. and koodo basically wont help, ive tried replacing the websessions, ive tried making new websessions, just cant get it to work. If anyone has any ideas let me know.
PS You can use the camcorder function, im just retarded.

Posted by: trevor146

i did it all on win 7, your phone can be recognized, and it can work with mpt and m pst. my advice. Uninstall all the drivers, then re install. Also if possible. Do it in winxp, much easier and less worrysome. Win 7 is awesome but not with all programs that are a few years old.

That would really suck! :P
I'm getting this phone this week and would really like to try developing java apps for it.

Have you tried going into the browser menu and entering the info manually?
This thread is fairly old, but the settings may still apply: http://vzdw.com/showthread.php?t=1435813

There's someone on this thread who has a rival who said is willing to help
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1596973

lol, I hope you fix this so I can flash mine!

Posted by: karlthegewgaw

I guess things are quite a bit more complicated than just entering a few settings. Based on this flashing guide there are quite a few settings you want to be able to restore after flashing: http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/cdma/flashk1m.php .

Posted by: trevor146

ive done this several times, a hundred years ago when the v710 was still new yeah it was alot harder, today you just need the websession info, atleast from what ive seen. I just cant get the info i need cuz i cant tell koodo what i did, and its hard to lie my way thru that convo. lol

Posted by: _So-FReSH_

anyone here have telus file for this? i wana cross flash it from verizon to telus.. thanksz

Posted by: zbergeron01

Has anyone SUCCESSFULLY flashed the Motorola Rival from Koodo Mobile to Verizon, if yes please help everyone by providing a NEW tutorial please!

Posted by: philly001

I totally agree.

Posted by: trevor146

yes i did it. no mms no mobile net

Posted by: philly001

so no mms.. does that means no texts or just no photo messaging?

Posted by: wolfftek

mms = multi media (pictures, video, and/or voice notes)
sms = standard texting (no pics, video, and/or voice notes)

Posted by: philly001

alright thanks thats what I thought just wasn't sure.
So I guess there's no way of getting the mms? i'm sure you guys have looked into it.

I tried this process on a phone with the same firmware and with RSD Lite 4.5.7 and the monster File VRZ_A455_01.29.15P_PRIss42784_MONSTER_01
basically it was a repair job from Rush 1.29.15 however I have a newer phone with firmware 1.29.22 and I tried to downgrade the phone via the same process and it bricked my phone, it wont even power on, ive replaced the battery and even tried to hold down * + # and power it on, its just a steady black screen, so if their are any suggestions id be happy to hear it, also does anyone know how to actually CREATE a monster file from the new Firmware so others wont have the same issue I did?

Posted by: karlthegewgaw

To go into bootloader mode with the rival you want to hold the "a" button and "enter/return" button on the keyboard, as well as the "previous/back" button on the front of the phone, then press the power button to power on.

Posted by: wildcat2083

do you happen to know what software I can Use to create a backup ofthe firmware, I have a Rush 1.29.15 however i was attempting to downgrade from 1.29.22 and thats what "brickeed" my phone, i have a second phone (my old one) that i have updated for the time If I can copy the software Ill be able to fix my new one and send the old one back, so far ive only heard of RSD lite, but that wont allow me to backup the phone just reflash it

Posted by: drkcobra

You wont find any backup software for Motorola CDMA phones, it does not exist. The exception is the Smart-Clio box but it still is encrypted to your box's SN so exchanging backup bins is no good.
Trying the A45 .22 to .15 downgrade, does have very bad catastrophic effects. It does indeed BRICK your phone. The only way to revive it is to JTAG the unit. Even though I do have the BIN image, it is still easier (at present) to send it to Motorola under warranty. They have no way of knowing what was done and there is no cross carrier tracks, so while everybody's is still covered under their 1 year warranty, use it!

Here are some links for the A455 Verizon firmwares officially from Motorola:

I would love to get a hold of the Telus or Koodo Upgrade and/or Monsters if anyone has any of them, or if someone has access to the Canadian Software Approval Spreadsheet from Compass. I only have access to US carriers.
Thanks.

These Files are very Much appreciated, one last question, is their a way to actually Downgrade these phones without bricking them?

And On Mention Of "JTAG" What exactly is that?

i have Created a Flashing Guide that may be usefull to people if you would like to review it for errors please do
