Do japanese phones work in North America????

Have you guys seen some of the japanese flip phones?? i know that this is not new stuffs......i personally like the ones with the antenna on the top part of the flip...... the following link is an example of the kind of phone i meant.......

Verizon has a smilar phone without external screen.
Maybe you can activate with some CDMA provider in Canada, although I've only heard Sprint PCS phones being activated in Canada tho.

KDDI au phones should work on the Verizon network, but only the 800 MHz CDMA portion (some VZW service is 1900 MHz CDMA).
The problem would be to get the programming information for the phone.

The J-sh09 is not CDMA, it is PDC.
This handset cannot be used outside of Japan.

No, sorry.
The CDMA handsets in Japan are all sold by KDDI/AU, so going to their website would be a start.
