N75 stuck in flipped open mode?

I have searched all over and haven't come across any information on this, so hopefully someone on HoFo can help. I have a Nokia N75 that apparently thinks that it is open all of the time. After it turns on, the outside screen is upside down, like when flipped open. Because of this, it never idles and the battery dies very quickly. Is this possibly an issue with the cable to the screens? What sort of sensor mechanism is used to detect when the phone is open or closed?
Also, every once in a while, the phone flickers and the outside screen goes back to normal, but does not last. I have checked to make sure the ribbon cables are securely plugged in.
Thanks for any help!

You should replace your phone so that you retrieve any information off it before it completely fails. A microswitch in the hinge is apparently stuck. If it sticks in the opposite position, you will not be able to turn on the inside screen.
