Here's my first attempt at a ringtone.

Danger Mouse Theme from TV

I took the original midi and edited it in Anvil Studio, then used the Yamaha Authoring Tool to add Vib and convert to mmf.

Here goes!

I have been looking everywhere for a ringtone from Southpark. It's called Some Pie. I had it on a Sanyo phone I had through Sprint. I got the tone from www.matrixm.com. It's still in my locker, but it won't work on my Samsung phone. Does anyone have this ringtone? It goes a little something like this. "Hey, you get your B!@*# A$$ back in the kitchen and make me some pie!!" I really want it back. Thanks.

Here are a couple of what I call bilps and no, I don't know where or why I came up with that word to describe them.

They are very short tones that are nonetheless very recognizable and have been used as ringtones in movies.

After going through all 175 pages of posts I have gone from knowing nothing about ringtones other than they are expensive to buy or download through WAP to knowing which cable to buy for my phone and creating my own ringtones.

This took a little effort on my part, mainly several nights/days of intensive reading of posts and checking out some of the web sites listed.

I ended up paying about $16 for a cable through e-bay and that included shipping from Hong Kong to USA, got the cable in a week and have been scanning the internet for ringtones ever since. Luckily someone mentioned the HoFo and I have been voraciously reading ever since.

My heartfelt THANKS to everyone who contributed to this thread in whatever way, either ringtones or knowledge, because now I'm able to make the ringtones I like and at no cost. Bravo!!!!

And so, for the poor guy/gal (can't remember) please find attached a short vertion of Bizet's Carmen Toreadore ringtone and a copy of a rather good four and a half minute midi file of the tune to use as source matieral if you wish to create your own ringtone.

Edited the instruments on this one and liked it enough.

I did a Google search for "midi fawlty theme TV" and came up with a number of sites that had the theme.

I then used the Yamaha Authoring tool to convert it to .mmf.

Okay... I'm trying to edit a ringtone on PSMPlayer, but it has a "copy guard." Somebody in here I noticed had a pretty cool sig. line that had a link to a thread how to overcome that guard. Trouble is, I can't remember what page it was on, since ya know, there's 176 pages!! If this was a thread on the AT&T forums, it would have been longgg locked up by now...

Also, thought I'd add a "simple ringer" that I added vib&LED to today.

(Props to Danimal for telling me where to get the ringtone in the first place)

There's nothing wrong with the file, its not protected in any way.
I used PSM PLAY to add LED + VIBE and there's no problem.

np, i just converted it too .mmf

. Here comes the instruction

Open PSMplayer
File -> open your .mid file
then File-> Create SMAF -> 40Chords
Then type in a name @ title
press ok
fill in a file name with .mmf on the end
and voila a new ringtone is created

i just dont use Vib/led, cause it wont work when i try to put it in

I was just checkin the new files on 3gupload.com, and they have the Siemens ambulance ringtone on there now. It sounds exactly like it. Just do a search for "ambulance" and it'll come up. Enjoy!

I found a really great mmf file and I have three problems:
1. when I try to convert it, it apers an error mesage that the file is protected.
2. which is yhe limit space of a tune so that you can upload it on the phone
3. i've uploaded some tunes on the phone and after 3 seconds it stops playing, I can hear only a buzzz.

i have finally jumped on the bandwagon and converted mp3s into mmfs using the step-by-step guide provided by cellphonedumbass (cheers!).

HOWEVER, samsung phones are ridiculously discreet. even if the ringtone is set at it's loudest, the ringtone will initially start off pretty soft then subsequently ring at the designated volume. this is especially obvious when using an mmf converted from an mp3. the considerable lag probably means that one would have missed calls even with good voice ringtones.

through my experimentation, i also discovered that cellphonedumbass' instructions are just a general guideline and can be manipulated to make even louder and clearer voice tones if file size is not a problem (e.g. c100 can receive approximately up to 100k for ONE ringtone):

1. when increasing the volume of wav file in sound recorder. instead of just increasing by 25% as suggested by cpda, go for a few hundred %. i just keep increasing until my speakers can't take it... :P

2. the higher the frequency, the clearer the sound. therefore max it up whenever you have to set anything with kHz.

3. therefore it also follows that mp3 clips with ppl singing in the higher octaves sound much better (e.g. mariah carey doing the whistle)

to solve the problem that i mentioned earlier, i had to keep my clip to about 5 secs. so when the phone rings, it will ring at the discreet volume for about three cycles followed by the designated volume.

there you go, my five cents' worth. erm.... by the way, can my prob be solved?

You're right singing ones do sound better on my LG 4020 I took out all the bass normalized it x 300 and then converted it.Most of the static problem left after I took out the bass but in the end it still a 8000khz file

OK guys.. I made some ringtones a long time ago, but I have forgotten how to do it.

I have my MP3 I want, I converted it to WAV so I can load it up in PSM Player, but it will not let me save it as a MMF.

Is there some sort of tutorial, or step by step guide to do it? I am sure that I am not the only one that would like to learn how to do this.

Any suggestions on where to get started... thanks !!

just use yamaha converter thingy(for wav 2 mmf)

just start it drop the wav file in it, press ok or something and its done
