Hey guys, i've recently tried to make mmf's but i keep getting errors.
I've read from someone in this same thread on how he does it.

On a regular Mp3, i use Sound Forge to edit a piece of which i want as my tone and then save that as a wave file.
Then i start up Sound Recorder from Windows and open that wave file and convert it to 8.000Khz 8bit Mono w/GSM 6.10 codec and save it.
After that i use Yamaha's WSC-MA2-SMAF to convert it but before it can complete it gives an error stating "Caution!" and then some error in wave file header.
I tried converting it to mid using PSMPlayer but to no avail, the "format " wasn't supported.

What am i doing wrong ? Can anyone help ? I really want to create my own tones and help contribute and fill request in this thread.

POLY RINGTONES. They are all in MIDI format, so you can convert them how you please. The newsgroup I found them in was... "alt.binaries.warez" look for "morethan1000polytomes". Just thought I'd share the info I found.

I don't know how many of you are familiar with www.homestarrunner.com. Personally, I love it. There's a song called The Cheat Theme (Skate Party) that I would love to have a ringtone of.

I have the song on my computer, and I got it to a wav, but I need help getting it from wav to midi. I have the Yamaha program, but I get an error when I try to open the wav. It says it's the wrong format. I use EZ mp3 wav converter, and I can't see any settings to make it work with the Yamaha program.

Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong, or do it all for me. Here's the link to the song:

can you guys tell me what the limit is for downloaden at a WAP site? The limit for downloading via EasyStudio (infra red - IrDa) is 32KB for my Samsung E700. But whats the limit for downloaden via WAP? because is have ringtones that are 40KB or 50KB. please tell me the limit. And i want to upload rintones to a WAP site and then download them on my phone. is that possible?

I use "SMAF 40-chords" to create them, but not all sound perfect...

All tones have VIB and LED (i'm not sure about LED, cause i can't test it with the S500...)

vlplus 1.40

This is the software you use to add vibe+led to multiple channels of your existing .mmf ringtones. It will not work on .wav sample (voice only) tones, but does work great on .mmf's with miditracks.

If you want to add vibe+led to .wav sampled (voice only) tones, you'll need to use the newest version of smaf authoring tools found at the yamaha web site. Search the samsung area and you'll find very detailed instructions, links and files needed to create your own wav only tones which you can add vibe and led too.

When you download this, you'll get 2 .zip files, unzip them and you'll have 2 .rar files, un-rar those to get the single .exe program.

The program is written in chinese or something, and I can't read it, but its very easy to figure out. Just select as many channels as you like for VIBE and LED. If in doubt- select them all

follow THIS LINK and it will take you to the Share Voice Quality Ringers thread, and the files have been uploaded to page #59 by me (Toaster) ... oh yeah, the program is drag and drop. Once you select the channels, drag your existing mmf to it, and it will bring up a dialog box to save the new tone with Vibe and LED.

If anyone has cool and/or popular midi-files, post them here! I can try to convert them in to MMF-files, but only when I got the time to do it ofcourse...

( I create with SMAF 40-chord + VIB + LED) --- I'm newbie with this sh*t, but i'm learning.

I have a hard time to find good midi-files of popular songs; and mp3/wave converted to midi sounds terrible! Does anyone have good converters? (for free?)

How's it going guys,

I use Cool Edit Pro to cut/convert the mp3s and use them as my ringtones. I am completely satisfied with everything that i've learnd except one thing. I don't know how to loop the edited version of the ringtone. Most of the times i am able to slice the mp3 in to a perfect segment so that when i loop play the file in Cool Edit Pro, the segment plays over and over without a pause. Howevr, that only works when i play it in cool edit pro. After i convert the file to wav and upload it to my phone, theres always a one sec pause. So i was just wondering if any of the guys who use cooledit could help me out with this issue.

Personally, I don't understand why the intense fascination for only using music fascimiles for ringers, rather than sound effects. Sound effects seem like such more fertile ground for creativity, uniqueness, and diversity. I'm not saying people shouldn't like music ringers, but it seems like that is the ONLY thing people are interested in, right now.

Hmm, looking back on all my posts... you're right about it.

I guess people rather like to hear a cool familiar music ringtone than a unknown weird-bleeping-sound-effect or something...

I also use music ringtones, cause it's fun to collect them. (Standard) Sound effects doesn't impress many people to use them. And almost all of the ringtone-websites provide music ringtones...

Maybe you should create / post your own sounds effects, I'm sure that people will download them to try it. Or if you are already doing it... keep it going on!

Yea you can, thats pretty much how it is done. But no matter how perfectly i get it done in Cool Edit, theres always an extra second of silence at the end. HOW DO YOU LOOPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
