VerizonWireless Bill after transfer to PagePlus

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I transfer my account to PagePlus in the middle of the billing cycle, I expect to receive a bill which is only pro-rated. Instead I received a full billing cycle amount, what can I do? I call the customer service and since my account transfer to Page Plus now, it says there is no record in their system anymore.

What should I do? I am not willing to pay the full cycle bill.

Thanks.

It's in the Terms & Conditions that you will be billed to the end of your billing cycle.

You may be able to take, or "port," your current wireless phone number to another service provider. If you request your new service provider to port a number from us, and we receive your request from that new service provider, we'll treat it as notice from you to terminate our service for that number upon successful completion of porting. After the porting is completed, you won't be able to use our service for that number. You'll remain responsible for any Early Termination Fee that may apply, and for all fees and charges through the end of that billing cycle, just like any other termination.

Yeah, they changed their policy about this in relation to porting not too long ago. However, even though it states that now it's still a bit hard to see how they can really do/enforce that--when you port that effectively cancels your whole line/account, so how could you be charged anything for it if you no longer have it? It's like being charged something for nothing, which is realistically at the very least against business practices and doesn't even really sound all that legal.

Wirelessly posted (out there: BlackBerry9530/4.7.0.141 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Or you can view it as being billed in advance for service and you decide to stop using it before that period ends.

Its still not very customer friendly but at least makes logical sense.

There is something there that makes it seem like there's some logic to it, but the part about you paying for something you can't even use (since your account doesn't even exist anymore) in case of porting seems a bit odd as well. I mean VZW did have the policy of prorating in case of porting for quite a long time until changing it to this not too long ago--surely that original policy must have made some sense, otherwise VZW was doing something illogical for quite a while.

It was actually quite common to see people with significant overage charges due to the account prorating. It was more often then not, more than just paying for the rest of the month of service.

You certainly could use the service through the end of the month if you had an active number though. If you chose to take your number elsewhere before your service month ends, that was your choice.

If you are paying rent and move out completely and turn in your key one week into a billing month, the landlord shouldn't be obligated to give you 3 week's rent back. Seems pretty analogous to me.

i ported out of verizon about a week before my month was through (i was out of contract, just doing month to month). about 6 weeks later i got a check from them for the remainder of the month that i didn't finish out.

I was out of contract already when I transferred to pageplus but they still charge me whole month.

Well, contract really only has to do with whether or not you would be charged an ETF, while the whole charging through the end of the billing cycle thing is separate from that. The policy currently is that you would be in all cases, but it seems like some people aren't, given what was posted earlier in this thread.
