Porting Over AT&T Number to VZW?

Hello - new here and I have a question. I am currently w/ AT&T (iPhone) and may join my wife on VZW once the Droid comes out, BUT I don't want to give up my iPhone until I know I will like the Droid. If I order the Droid online when it comes out, I assume VZW will give me a brand new number which is fine but once I know I want the Droid and want to drop AT&T- can I then get my AT&T phone number ported over to VZW without a lot of hassle?

I would love to keep my older number but if I go into a store and get the droid and port if over then AND I don't like it - I would like to then still have my iPhone and current number.

Yes, you should be able to port in your number to an existing VZW line down the line.
