GPS blackra1n issues

3g 16g 3.1.2 5.6 jb with blackra1n. Ever since jb, I feel that my gps isn't functioning as it should. It was pretty slow and left me with a sizeable ring of uncertainty. Dot wasn't really where I was by like a mile or so. I googled and found the suggestion to install push fix, that this fixed gps issues as well. I believe it did... Somewhat. Dot is a bit quicker, and closer, within about 300ft, but still a ring of about 300ft+. All testing has been done either with clear view of sky with full 3g, or inside house w/ full 3g where it always zeroed in before. Any ideas?? This is very annoying.

If you have a ring, your GPS isn't working at all - it's just using the locator services. That being said, my GPS hasn't worked for a long time, and that's no fault of Blackra1n.

edge, have you tried to get a replacement?

My GPS will pinpoint me within 15' of where I'm at in my home.

Any more specifics on what to check or what to do?

That happens all the time for you?
I've had times where it was off and then if I went outside it would lock.

Guys, this has been posted in many threads before - try leaving your Wifi on, you do not need to connect to any router and then open the GPS app and see the magic. This is something that has happened since 3.0 and lot of people had this issue.

Post your results here... also, it would be really appreciated if you search for threads rather than opening a new one. I am sure Mods would really appreciate that...

No go. I've been outside. Wifi on and off. Reset network settings. Removed/reinstalled push fix. And I've searched.... Google. And found nothin that helps? Why is my gps dead???? Should I do a full restore, jb, and see if that fixes?? I'd rather not go that rout until it's the last option. Any suggestions guys??

No, leave the Wifi ON. and give it 20-30 seconds to lock on to the satellite.... post your results here...

That's not magic, it's just using the wifi method of estimating your location. It's better, but still have a blue halo of a few hundred feet. My gps is flat out not working. Someone please help!!

No it still does not use WiFi to locate you... it is something with the firmware and the GPS chip. Try restoring it and it will work perfectly, but then with JB some users, including me have had issues with firmware interaction causing this to not work. It is up to you, if you happen to find a solution you might want to share....

Try to reboot also rather than a power off and on!

I call BS on 15'. The most accurate I've ever seen my 3Gs GPS was ~56ft. I use it quite frequently for geocaching, and 56ft is the best I've gotten on the clearest days, outside, no obstructions, and not a cloud in the sky.

I'll bet it's still a lot better than the nokia e71 I'm using, that hunts around a lot and has trouble when there's no phone signal.

Your GPS chip could be fried. Apple store replaced my first 3GS because the GPS died in it.
