As the title says

If it is a GSM capable BlackBerry, and it is unlocked, it should work with any GSM SIM card.

but, are you positive it will work? I want to make sure before I purchase one for someone in New Zealand, because I thought they were on a different frequency then us, and that our phones wouldn't work properly there?

anybody know?

Can you find out what bands that New Zealand operates on? That will greatly improve your chances on finding out if it will or not. What providers are available there? Who would you get the SIM through?

Telecom & Vodafone

A quick Google search of Vodafone NZ shows that it runs on the main quad band GSM signal. You may or may not have 3G, it just depends. It will work though, as long as the phone is quad band, and is unlocked.

I see, so I guess its just better to purchase a phone on that side of the world.

Thanks.

Why would you need to do that? Any unlocked quad band GSM BlackBerry will work, as will any unlocked quad band GSM phone in general. You don't need one from NZ for it to work. That is the beauty of GSM.

I need to be sure it'll work with the Data, I know they have Data there.. Im actually trying to get a Blackberry for someone over there.. The prices of phones there are rediculous!

You should check with the provider directly to get the proper information on this, especially if you want data.
