when I power up my phone it displays aircraft check, please confirm switch on, everytime. I have it set to normal settings and airplane setting is not selected. How can I stop this from happening. I am using sl-55 on t-mobile network, just received finally after mega problems from where purchased! THANKS

Yeah, I asked about this earlier and, unfortunately, there's no way to deactivate it...since I don't usually power-off my phone, it ain't no big deal to me...but I guess it's a safety feature...who knows...

And yeah, it's a pet-peeve for me...kind of a pain...hehe...anyways...

It is an intentional safety feature, indeed.

...which is totally unnecessary. I've left my phone on many many times on planes and I'm still here.

The easiest thing to do it just press the left softkey (that turns into "OK" when the warning appears) as soon as you turn the phone on.

I guess it could become bothersome...especially when I powercycle my phone just to see and hear the animation and sounds I put on my phone...hehe...^_-

But I still think there should be away to turn that feature off...

Well, in Europe you'd be in serious trouble if you did so. That's why Siemens added this feature.

I have a hard time believing that they'd throw me in jail for forgetting to turn my phone off.

Regardless, my point was that I've left my phone on many times, either through forgetting to turn it off or because I wanted to play a game or something, and none of the planes so much as twitched.

Even if there is some law in Europe, I don't understand how does this feature is of any real use. If I really want to turn my phone on, it would still turn on. It's not like it prevents me from doing so. So ultimately it's just a big pain in the butt.

It's not designed to keep you from turning the phone on if you want to. It's designed to keep the phone from getting turned on in your pocket by mistake.

It IS annoying, but there's nothing you can do about it. Just know that you don't have to wait for it to prompt you with the aircraft check when you turn on the phone. You can just press the left softkey twice to clear the warning. The first time skips your startup animation and displays the warning; the second says "OK" to the warning.

As a matter of fact mobiles can be hazardous to flight electronics, that's why they must be switched off in Europe. The same applies to CD drives.

I heard of a firmware patch that eliminates the aircraft check but I don't know where to get it. Note that any warranty is void if you use it.

I think that those of you who use the criteria that "I left my mobile on in the airplane and the flight didn't go down" is idiotic.

If they ask you to turn it off, turn the damn thing off. You are not the engineer who designed the systems on the aircraft and knows what problem the mobile frequencies might pose to safe operations.
