I'm wondering if the SL55's RF is any worse than a Nokia 7210 or Motorola v70 or v60...makes me wonder cuz today on my way home on I680N, I dropped several calls at various spots...it's not usually like that, especially when I'm using my v70...just wondering if it's the phone or the service...

I would say it's the service and not the fone. The SL55 has exceptional RF. It is much better than my old Nokia 7210 and Backup Motorola V60g.

i completely agree.....firstly, i love this phone, BUT, the RF is not up to par.....my nokia 7210 and 5100 were almost identical in their RF's, but the SL55 is a good step down in the RF department.....i too drop several calls a day, and other calls where the other party says "wow, your phone sucks, i cant hear you".....this never happened on the 7210 or 5100 for me, and i drive the same route to and from work everyday......without any doubt in my mind, the RF on the SL55 is not as good as any nokia i have used......i am holding on for some kind of firmware upgrade that makes it better....i have version 9 which is the latest at this point i believe....

Dang...well, at least I know it's not just me...I guess with Cingular, it's just the crappy signal and maybe the SL55 has trouble finding/holding onto it than the 7210, or even my 8890! Well, it's still a nice-*** phone so I'm not complaining! ^_^

And yeah, I guess v9 is the latest right now and can firmware really affect reception that much? I thought it would have to be something else...oh well...
