20 = Germany
30 = Korea
40 = China
50 = Brazil, USA, Finland
60 = HK, China, Mexico

The IMEI country of origin code refers ONLY to the phone, not necessarily to the battery. In most cases, the battery is manufactured in a different place (depending from their technology, Li-Polymer ones are usually from Japan).
I can confirm that 20=Germany.

For GSM handsets the code to reveal the IMEI is *#06#. That should be the code for all GSM handsets to reveal the IMEI.

What kind of codes are you looking for? Other than standard GSM star/hash (*#) codes that are applicable for all GSM phones I'm not sure what you're after.

check minutes, turn things off, shortcuts like 0 for wap. things like that.

Check minutes is not limited to Nokia. #646# will tell you current useage. #686# will show your number again not limited to Nokia. I'm not sure that the shortcut to WAP is Nokia only either. Why is it that you think that there are some that are not well known?

saw a post from a mod. and he said that there were a lot of codes. he posted them, they did not work for me. and the ones you just gave me dont work either. as for the wap shorcut, its "0"(zero) hold it for 3 sec and wala! thanx for the replys.

Posted by: gerdez

I own a 6610, just bought it last week, and it says 00 and Made in Korea. But I found an explanation to this, here. I guess older models just have 00 so they could make changes in IMEI standards. I hope it helps.

Posted by: Mc_Claren_F1

Ok guys, I think the codes are correct representing a certain countries where is made, but it may also becos the whole phone all together was not made from just 1 country, alone. Meaning, ie: the part of the board or LCD could be made from ie: Mexico and China, but the final product (the whole phone) was put together in another country.

Why would this be? Most manufacturing companies nowadays do this because they have a competitive advantage of having parts made at one place and assemble the final product in another place. This is done to save cost on capital labour/labor and expenditure.

For example most of the Audiovox cdma phones that are carried by bell/telus, the hardware inside of the cell phone is made by Toshiba but the face plate and the shell is made by Audiovox

"The format changed from April 1, 2004 when the Final Assembly Code ceased to exist and the Type Approval Code increases to eight digits in length and became known as the Type Allocation Code. From January 1, 2003 until this time the FAC for all phones was 00."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMEI

So now there is no FAC and the code of the OP is now obsolete.

Hope this helps.

So, how many Nokias are actually made in Finland now?

Posted by: ismart

and "01"...which country?

Posted by: sleepyal

my nokia n95 says 01 and made in finland so that chart doesn't seem to be very accurate

Posted by: efparri

Here is the analysis of the IMEI of my Nokia N75:

Full IMEI Presentation 35xxxx-01-0xxxxx-7
Reporting Body Identifier 35
Type Allocation Code 35xxxx01
Serial Number 0xxxxx
Check Digit 7

The 01 is part of the Type Allocation Code which is seven digits. The 0 is part of the serial number. The manufacturer only controls the six digits of the serial number, which are sequential. There is no country of origin code. It is an urban legend. My phone's country of origin happens to be Finland, which is coincidental. All Nokia N75s will have the same type allocation code regardless of where they are manufactured. The 0 is there because the serial number sequence just began. Using that digit for the country of origin means that only 99,999 phones can ever be made.

IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 02 or 20 this means your cell phone was assembled in the Emirates which is very bad quality

IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 08 or 80 this means your cell phone was manufactured in Germany which is fair quality

IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 01 or 10 this means your cell phone was manufactured in Finland which is very Good

IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 00 this means your cell phone was manufactured in original factory which is the best Mobile Quality

IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 13 this means your cell phone was assembled in Azerbaijan which is very Bad quality and also dangerous for your health

THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELL PHONE COULD DO...
There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.
Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it: -

(1)

EMERGENCY
* The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112..* If you find
yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an
emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to
establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.**

(2)

Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys?
This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:
If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call
someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock.

Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).
Editor's Note: *It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!'*

(3)

Hidden Battery power

Imagneyour cell battery is very low , you are expecting an important call
and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve
battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with
this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This
reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.
AND

(4 )
How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone? < B< P>To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:
* # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.
You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

disclaimer: i really have no idea they manufacture cellphones in azerbaijan!!, so am not sure about that and hidden battery power is 1 more thing i dont' have a clue abt, 'coz i tried it on my nok e61i and it didnt' work, and th car lock stuff, i dont' have a car that uses remote keys!!
