Found this on another forum. Tried it on my vox8500 and it works.

"I have FINALLY figured a way to get around the virgin xtras and you dont even need waptunnel!!! This is how you do it. first you open up virgin xtras by pressing the vx button. then quickly (while it is connecting) hold that button down. It opens up the browser menu. then choose advanced, then choose homepage. If it says Feature not available you did it too slow. If it says You are about to edit your homepage.....blah....blah....blah CONGRATULATIONS you just unlocked mobile web . Now you can type in any wap site u want for your home page. I dont know why but apparently you have to type in HTTP:// or it wont work.I personally chose wap.oa.yahoo.com (Yahoo) to check my email every once in a while.

O by the way if it connects too fast in the beginning open up browser menu choose set wap proxy and set it to number 2. (It will take a little bit longer just enough time for you to get into the advanced menu)"

It worked but I typed in http://wap.oa.yahoo.com and it took me back to the VX page. Can you help me here?

Did you make sure to enter the HTTP in CAPS? It takes a few tries at times depending on your timing

BangBang, that is very interesting. I have no problem accessing the advanced menu, however I have not been able to gain access to the Homepage menu without the "feature not available" message coming up. You noted this was due to not accessing fast enough, but I can't push buttons any faster! Any other suggestions?

It can be a little tricky at times. I found that choosing diff options like view the url then jumping back to the change homepage option usually works.

I have made several succesful attempts in editing the homepage, however when I press OK to finish my editing, it gives a message stating Security Not Enabled, which if I proceed with will connect me with the normal Xtras again. Any suggestions?

I am goofylizard (for those cellphonehacks users) and i just wanted to recommend using http://tagtag.com/beetnick55 for your home page (it works quite well). I would also like to say that you have access to AIM, MSN, YAHOO, and GOOGLE on that web site.

i cant get into the advance menu i get feature not available. trust me i even press does buttons fast

Here's some shortcuts you can use to change the homepage:

1. Hit VX. Immediately press and hold VX, when advanced menu appears, hit 6 and then 2 (Advanced followed by Homepage).

2. If you get "Option not available", hit 6 (Restart Browser), then immediately hold VX, then hit 6 and then 2. You should get to the homepage option at this point. If you're too slow, try again. Restart Browser is slow enough that you can usually sneak in to the advanced and homepage before it reloads.

I set my homepage to "Http://wap.oa.yahoo.com" and it works. However, if you take the battery out of the phone, the homepage will reset to the Virgin Xtras default and you'll have to repeat these steps to change it back.

I don't have the top of the line VM Audiovox, but rather the midline Kyocera 2255. It doesn't have a special "VX" button; instead you have to choose "VirginXtras" from the menu.

Is there ANY way I can change my homepage?

Okay, I've gotten mine to let me enter in a new homepage, but it keeps resetting back to the Virgin Xtras automatically. I can't even load another page. I just typed in the new one, hit the vx button again to reload, and all I got was the VX page. What else do I need to do?

Its not really worth messing with,when i did it the first time i got about 15 minutes of use and then it froze and i had to take the battery out and go through the whole process again then it froze up again,so i just said to hell with that.

Did you hit OK after entering the new URL? If you hit VX while on the page to enter the URL it cancels and goes back to the default home page (VirginXtras).

Okay, I've got it working. It really helps to switch WAP servers and edit the homepage while it's still connecting. I've loaded my own personal tagtag page with links to Yahoo, MSN, Google, and a few others. It's my first WAP page so it's nothing great, but I like it. HTTP://tagtag.com/conx
Now does anyone know how to do this on the Party Animal?

it works great, but when i try to go into bookmarks or mark site, it says, 404: not found. why?

Also, should I change my uplink ip to the free public wap or leave it as is?

you cannot use bookmarks, you can do them through yahoo though

you have the new version to block the free wap so your outta luck
