Multiple Lines on a Single SIM Card

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello,

I have heard that it is possible to have more than one line on the same SIM Card, and GD87 supports that. There is even an icon that displays the line number that is active when you have one of those SIM Cards. Does anyone know anything about that? Where can it be obtained? Thanks.

Anyone?

You need to talk with your operators services. They have to enable your SIM number to have 2 lines.

My operator down here in Brazil does not offer anything like that. But I am wondering if I can have an additional line in Europe and an additional USA line on the same Brazilian SIM that I have. That would be great. But I need to know if the operators that offer that require that all lines be from the same operator and also if the SIM that enables that is a regular 32K SIM or a special SIM... I appreciate all help, as I have searched on Google but found nothing about it...

Yes, it is possible in Europe. I have it on my sim card. I am with Orange in the UK. It is the only UK network which offers it.

I don't know if any of the other European networks offer it.

chould I use voda and 02 or not

it is a great feature that is not commonly offered, unfortunately

From what I have been finding out, only Orange offers this service in the UK, and then both lines have to be from Orange... Anyway, I have emailed Orange and Vodafone asking them if it is possible to have a UK line on my Brazilian SIM card. I will post whatever they tell me.

yeah, I can get your the kit to do it
it is like $150 US
you get a special sin card tha let you put 4 phone lines.
all you got to do is to restart the phone to switch between the lines.

I got this from Taiwan last year never use it.

1) What is this special SIM Card called?
2) Do I have to take this SIM card to the different operators to program the lines on it? Because then I must check with the operators if they will program my line into this special SIM Card... Please explain.. Thanks.

Real thanks. That link helped me find other links as well and I ended up finding a MultiSIM Card that holds up to 12 different lines. All of the products that I found have one limitation: they only work with v.1 SIM Cards, not the recent v.2 SIM Cards. I didn't even know that there were 2 versions of SIM Cards... Anyway, I read that 99% of the SIM Cards are v.1, so I should be fine...

Q1 where is that site base (where is it shiped from like Eroup or USA)?

Q2 how do you find out what verion your SIM card is?

Q3 whats the cheepest MultiSIM out there?

UPDATE:
V2
1) This SIM Card Back-UP device doesn't support newest SIM Card that uses COMP128V2 algoryth to code KI key (like all UK cards for example).
If some one finds one that can do UK SIMS please post it up here thanx

Are all UK Cards v.2?

Posted by: o0MattE0o

not shore acording to that text from that site it looks like it

hope not becuase I want to use My vodafone and Guinie(O2) SIMS as one instead of me swaping all the time even thow I still need to get my phone unlocked from vodafone

This is the most interesting product that I found, and it is manufactured with the USB interface as well as the serial interface:

This company says it is working on a solution that will enable scanning of COMP128V2 cards, but they don't have it yet. Interesting though...

Do you know how to switch sim cards with a multi-sim? They said you don't have to turn the phone off so I would guess there's some menu thing?

Posted by: alanbr

It's got something to do with a manual driven STK function. I do not know what that means, but I think you get an icon on your main menu where you have the option of switching lines.

Posted by: Dooks

Oooh ok I think STK refers to the SIM Application Toolkit. On the GD88 specifically, the top-right (games) icon turns into a SIM card icon and can run SIM card based apps.

Pretty Neat.

well I be getting a multi sim card as soon as they get UK compatible versions as UK has version 2 unlike every where else version 1...

and I make my money back becuase I know loads off pll they will pay for this

Posted by: Dooks

alanbr do you know how I can tell if my SIM card is 128v1 or 128v2? There's no way I can tell myself...

Posted by: alanbr

I have no idea. I guess the only way to find out is to try to scan it and see if it works. Expensive way of finding out... lol

Posted by: alanbr

Maybe you should call you operator and ask them. They should be able to tell you...
