What's this about another issue with the T610...

I remember hearing about how great the T610 was when it came out in regards to its BT capabilities as opposed to the P800... but nobody ever mentioned that you'd have to put up with a BT static problem with the T610 either. Have you seen the thread regarding this... http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...threadid=160162

Well my P800 may not be the greatest in BT communication (really needs line of sight) but I've never experienced nor heard of a static problem like what plagues some T610s.

First the hissing now the BT static... what's next? I'm just glad I waited and didn't run out and buy a T610 right away!

Hi 3VW. I've used my HBH-60 on my T610 and have not experienced the static problem. FWIW, I got the T610 from Adam at gsmphonesource, who was looking out for me for T610s which were free of the original problems. I think in the thread you reference others may have reported the same.

Don't get me wrong. I love my P800 ( though my wife may want to trade me her T610 for it ) but I think the deciding factor between the two concerns how much you need the PDA functionality of the P800. Re BT and also RF, not that big a difference between the two, IMO.

I had a T610 and it had both the hissing and BT static.
P800's BT sound quality is much much better.

3VW,

I had the hiss and static/crackling problem with my T610. I had it fixed and both disappeared. I just bought a new T610 yesterday and I don't have either one on this new phone. From my experience all BT headsets have some kind of static sound. I think its either inexperienced people complaining about static/interference or they are being picky. I would recommend that you buy the T610 now since all the problems have been solved.

Really, not that much different between the 2 phones?
I've heard that the T610 has amazing BT ability from others members and that you don't need line of sight with a BT headset. That you can put the T610 in your pocket or brief case and maintain wonderful contact (without garble) with the headset. That would constitute grreeat BT ability in my book.

Jalal

I have a question for you. In the Beta Testers thread you did complain of a static problem with the D-BS... were you using the T610 when this occurred?

Thanks for the encouragement guys but I'm still going to wait awhile... till the dust settles. I'll continue to watch though.

3vw, I'm no expert, I can only speak from my own experience. Yes, I've read the comparisons between the two phones in terms of BT and RF. In my use, the difference simply has not been that great. I don't need BT to go through 30 feet of concrete or RF that works from inside of an elevator shaft. In normal use, at home and in a downtown skyscraper, the T610 did have better BT, and the P800 better RF, but the difference was incremental, not earth-shattering. Again, just my opinion and experience.

I got to go back to my conversation with my wife. I think she wants to trade her T610 for my P800. WHile I like my P800, I also am mndful of the ancient Chinese adage about not angering someone who can kill you in your sleep.

3VW,

Yes, I was using the T610 but, to start with there was no static/crackling sounds. It only started after about 30-45 minutes. I have been using it since with the new T610 that I got and no problems at all. As Jan said its a SW issue which was reported earlier by others as well. I have also tried it with the HBH-30 and there was no static. To add to all this is BT is really amazing on the T610. This is the first phone that does do 30 and + more. I know a lot of people will doubt me on this and I did report it in the beta section. I was down stairs in my house and I made a call. Its either the phone or the digital that was picked at over 40 feet. I just couldn't believe it. When I hung up and called again it didn't pick up the headset.

That's why they also say to sleep with one eye open!

Well Jalal I'm glad for you that everything has worked out and you can now enjoy your T610... the way it should have been to begin with hey!
Like I said above though I'll still wait... call me apprehensive

Posted by: Jalal

I do agree with you. Better be safe then sorry

Posted by: vwvwvw

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward yet, to getting a 610 (for my wife that is). But I'll put it through it's paces before I turn it over to her so it better work even if she never uses BT.

If the BT range is really that good I know it'll spoil me and I'll want my P800 to do the same. I guess we'll have to wait for the P810 for that to happen. lol

Wait until the red or blue are sold. I got the blue and its really much nicer then the silver. If you want to see the pictures they are in the SE section. They aren't as clear as Marks pictures but, you can see what it looks like. On the blue smudge marks show more, the red is a light shade and I doubt that smudge marks will show as much as on the blue. Believe me BT will spoil you on this phone. Its the best BT enabled phone I've used to date.

Yep. This thread I started is titled MMS access, but also concerns WAP access to wap.myvoicestream.com. Not a T610 issue though, as it has been experienced with P800s also.

mobile.msn is a problem with some. Can you please check and see if you can log on to it with the T610.
