I have noticed that lately the speakerphone seems to be terrible. It sounds hoarse and crackly at times. This happens when the volume is on the highest setting but even then its difficult to hear people talking and almost impossible when traveling in a car. When not on th ehands free speaker the sound quality seems good, but again weak on the highest volume setting. Anyone experiencing these problems?

Yeah, I noticed that, too...it's not as loud as my Nokia 7210...but, it's OK when you're at home sittin' by the computer or something...

You're right...ain't no good in the car or in loud areas...but it's OK for me...I don't need people to hear what I'm talking about...hehe...

I find the speakerfone crisp and clear... I can say that while driving it isn't the best but then again every mobile I have owned and/or tried that has a speakerfone has always performed poorly while driving... due to all the various background noise or what not. If I want to hear clearly I always have to have the fone on the dash... only in residential areas where there is no traffic do I find the spearfone loud while in the car. In the house and/ or office though I find it to suit my needs just fine. My 2 cents.

curious what volume setting you use? On a lower volume setting its fine. On the highest it seems to be a problem. THANKS

I frequently change mine from 2 below max to max depending on how well I can hear the other person. It just depends on how much background noise there is during the call.

curious, on the highest setting it doesn't distort on your phone at all? I have 14 day warranty and am curious. Everything else is working great. Mine is a china version. Thanks Again

Mine doesn't distory at all...even at high volume...but then again, I don't think mine gets too loud...and mine is a China version, too...

my speakerphone doesnt distort either

i find it to be pretty soft too well compared to other speakerphones, on the 7210 id have to turn it down a bit, sl55 i use at max volume

i find the volume level soft also. but at the highest setting for some reason doesnt seem clear. In addition my firends sl55 when he closes it the graphics for a second on the bottom corners seem to darken/change similar to when you touch a tft active matrix screen with your finger, The real test of time will prove if this phone is durable or not. I baby mine and usually have it in a soft case. I wonder if this phone was carried by a construction worker if it would pass the test of time.

My S56 speakerphone also seems to be distorted. I just traded a CT56 for the S56. The speackerphone on the CT56 was much louder than on the s56. The speaker sounds crackly or as if there is too much tremble. My friends say they can't hear me clearly even when the phone is sitting on my keyboard as I type. They say that they could hear me better on the CT56.

Do the people you call have a problem hearing or understanding you?
