Thinking about getting one for service with AT&T, but I value user opinions first. I currently own a Nokia 7210.

there are a ton of reviews on this site...a search should bring some good ones up...
my overall opinion is the phone is great for the price (I got it through Cingular when my S40 died...$100 w/2-yr agreement, $50 mail-in rebate, $50 gift card rebate)...the screen is clear enough for me, though there are phones with much better screens available...the layout of the phone is great...it does have the awkward back and forth layout that my S40 had, meaning you have to use both sides of the keypad to make selections and confirmations of actions...the reception is great...much better than my g/f's v60gi and better than my S40...the phone has tons of features...you'll find tons more when you read the manual...the organizer is great, and you can easily upload ringtones and graphics via IrDA, and sync via IrDA, Data Cable, or BT (you can supposedly upload via BT as well, but many can't get it to work).
Compared to the S55 however, the phone is limited in terms of it's file system. Siemens has imposed a group of "protected" folders which do not allow for files to be moved from them (i.e. sent via MMS, IrDA, or BT to other mobiles). Also a limited DataSuite does not allow access to the phone as an external drive when connected to your PC, a great feature the S55 has. Lastly, the phone is dual-band (850/1900), not tri-band (900/1800/1900) like the S55.
Overall, I love the phone for the price. It has some great features, and I can't wait to add a camera when I get my $50 gift card if I can ever find a Cingular store to carry the camera. The price of the phone is great for the features it has...but if you don't mind spending more, get an S55! They come with more (Camera, DataCable and software in the box), but they do cost more.

I used to have the N7210 and I have to say that the S55 is a much better fone. keeblaelf1 already discussed the difference with the file system on the s55 and 56 so there is no need to repeat it. I am not sure if all AT&T retail outlets carry the s56 yet but I would go to an AT&T near you and check out in person... see if they have a test fone you can try out. If you do end up purchasing the s56 you will not regret it.

Overall it's a really nice phone. The only thing I can knock it on is the screen. Resolution and color depth is pathetic compared to my Nokia 6200. Couldn't Siemens come up with a better one?
