Has anyone tried using msn messenger with their P800? I understand that there is third party software available for this. How well does it work? Can you leave it running all day?

I am currently using a Ipaq 3870 and T68, but wondering if I can replace both devices with just the P800.

Yes, u can use msn messenger on your P800...

I do it all the time when i am not home, i use JMsn v1.4 and there is also 12Planet IM but i prefer JMsn cause it is better and faster, u can also recieve and send files, files as .jpg .bmp .doc and etc...

And u can stay online all day if u have gprs or dial up... as far as i know JMsn does not eat data if u are just online, but when u send and recieve messages it eats some data but very little, note to this that 12Planet IM eats alot of data when just signing in, JMsn does not use that much data just by logging in... and it takes a minute or 2 to login, easy to use...

So have a look at My-Symbian where u can view screenshots of these apps and can download the trial versions...

Try IM+ too, handles MSN, AOL, Yahoo and ICQ. They're on handango.com or www.shapeservices.de. Not cheap though, but I like it since it connects directly to the messenger servers directly, and knows who you have on your buddy lists.

I don't know if it eats up data when it's idle, but for me, the 19.99 (or was it 19.95?) unlimited internet plan on T-Mobile solves that problem.

Another one is TipicMe but they run a server that sits between you and the messenger servers mentioned above. Plus people I blocked on AOL could see me on TipicMe.

Let us know how you do with your P800 if ever you get one.

Thanks for all your feedback. I did end up getting the P800. One problem I am having is my phone stays busy when I am on MSN and all calls go to voicemail. Is this correct? With my pocketpc setup with T68 I believe I could still receive calls.

hey there, I have tried the JMSN and it keeps on crashing, does this happen to you guys?

So i bought the 12planet IM and it works great...but the thing sounds alerts for no apparent reason....

Finally I bought the IM+ and I am trying to sign in but then I can't....does anyone know how to set up the settings....it keeps on telling me that the connection cannot be made to the server....

Can someone helpme out with some of these issues with the multiple messengers?
