Handy Day v. Tracker v. ?

I'm buying software for my P800. I would appreciate your help in choosing between 2 competing products, SymbianWare's Tracker 2.0 and EpocWare's Handy Day.

Both have a Today screen and some task management, among other functionality. They both look like good products but it doesn't seem to make sense to have both (sort of like Pocket Informant vs. Agenda Fusion on the PPC).

I would appreciate your opinions so I can make a hopefully intelligent choice.

I personally prefer Tracker. I has a more user friendly feel to it for me. Alot can be accessed from just tracker itself. It embeds Filemanager together for a more integrated feel.

Handy day doesn't work for me.. It feels like another program running on the phone unlike Tracker.

I prefer Handy Day (though I still have to buy it as I am using the trial version). It gives you access to six more shortcuts to launch any program....and the best allows me to lock the phone with blue button and jog-dial, btw did I mention I don't use flip (physical or virtual).

I don't know too much about tracker, but I bought Handy Day (and Handy Dates as well) and I really appreciate it.

I enjoy the 6 additional shortcuts, it's function to close other programs (sort of switcher integrated), the bluetooth/infrared shortcut, it's 16 different colors schemes (which will change the color schemes everywhere on your P800), the lock phone shortcut with the blue button and it's main view where you can see at a glance your appointments, tasks, messages, the date/time and the display of your internal/external memory info.
Also, it is very easy to browse through your calendar by scrolling up/down your jog dial.

Yep. Looks like that's what I'll need to do. Appreciate everyone's input.

One factor in favor of Handy Day is it is bundled with 2 other apps, Handy Safe and Handy Expense. Handy Safe looks very useful (sort of like EWallet that I've used on my PPC), and with the bundle you get Handy Expense for something like $5 extra if you were going to buy the other two products anyway.

Anyways, I'll give them both a spin and post my findings for whatever their worth.

Jalal, I value your opinion, but would appreciate your explaining your preference so I can see if the reasons would apply to me. Thanks.

My reasons are the same as dupasquier reasons, he basically has all the reasons why I like HandyDay more. I have I think HandyDay 2.6 on my phone. I haven't upgraded it yet to 3.0 which is a free upgrade. Its just a simple program and easier for me then Tracker. I like the color schemes, I like shortcuts. I change my mind daily. One thing that Tracker has is the ability to set backgrounds of your choice. You take a picture and that is your background if you want.

Thanks Jalal (and everyone else) for your helpful input

I am trying both out as suggested. I then will post my "review" FWIW.

Genghis Khent,

I'm in the same situation with you. I am trialing both versions now, and will come up with my decision in a week or so. Using something like Handy Safe scares me as I am still traumatized after my PPC hard reset on me with all my information in eWallet. I wonder how Toshiba can stay in business selling PPCs when this is a common problem of their e740 line.

Looking forward to hearing about your decision...

Regards,

EWallet has a free desktop version that is a companion to the PPC version I pay for. I use the backup feature of the desktop version. Then, even if I have to hard reset the PPC, and using "ActiveStink" I stupidly overwrite my desktop wallet file, I still have the backup.

I just started playing with HandySafe, but it has a free desktop companion version like EWallet, and though I'm not sure it has a backup feature, it does have an Export (presumably to a text file) feature.

Yes, it is an extra step, and yes, real men don't back up , but I need something to remember all the passwords, combinations, etc. Anyway, I'll post my findings FWIW, but in the meantime, hope the above is of assistance.
