hi,

i'm new at this and need help from the gurus...

i bought a new in box gu87 already unlocked by my dealer (originally an att phone). it has fw a22. i put in t-mobile wap settings but it always says "reception failed". also, whenever i click on "server list" under mms the phone restarts by itself. when i do a 7 4 6 i can't get into submenus.

my quesions are:

1) do you think my eeprom is unlocked?
2) if not, can i use crack2d to unlock it or is it still too late (read in a thread that crack2d can unlock eeprom even when sim is unlocked)?
3) is my not being able to use wap the result of eeprom being locked?
4) what are my best options?

if there's no way to get on wap or t-zone, then i think i'll have to get another phone.

please help. thanks so much.

I had that problem too when I took it to a guy to unlock , but after I flashed it back to A39 and gave the phone a master reset , everything started to work fine again. And yes , you can always use crack2d regardless whether your phone is unlocked or not. Your browser only won't work when you unlock the EPP with CB2000 .. if you're using crack2d .. you won't run into any problems. Your best bet is to flash it again with the A39 software and using crack2d to unlock the EPP before you do it .. good luck

By the looks of it , your EPPROM is unlocked .. but wasn't done with crack2d which may have caused your browser not to work.

I just got the USB cable in so I went ahead and did the following:

1) ran Crack2d to unlock EEPROM
2) ran Winmodo to upload A39 (phone was already in A22)
3) ran cb2000 to write data

Now my Panasonic animated logo at startup is gone. Instead, I get the ATT logo. How can I get the Pana logo back? Also, the graphic clock is gone. Did I do something wrong? Can someone tell me what I missed so I can redo it again?

One more thing...

just noticed that the top of the phone now says "Voicestream" but it used to say in 2 lines "Voicestream T-Mobile". The dealer who sold me the phone told me that it said "V...T-M" because I have the latest 32bit sim card. If that's true, why does it now say "V" after I updated to A39?
