Hey guys, just got these 5100-look faceplates for my 6590 in the mail from Daydeal and thought I would post pics. Sorry for the bad quality of the pics...I am using the pop port camera with my 6200.
Let me know what you think.

This looks totally cool. Does it have the ruggedness of the 5100, is so, then even better. Also, how are the keys? So often aftermarket keys (and housings for that matter) suck, are they the super spongy crap keys, really hard keys, or somewhere in the middle like the high quality OEM?

Yeah the housing really does have the ruggedness of the 5100. The outer trimming (black/blue part) has a hard rubbery feel. The inner white part is a strong plastic feel. I feel like if I dropped this thing on concrete I would have no problems. Not too sure if I want to try it though....
As for the keys...they have a rubber feel too but not like the typical aftermarket keys. It's a harder rubber with more feedback but not at all like the really hard plastic keys. It also creates a nice click when you push the buttons which I like a lot and reminds me of the 3360/3390. The white plastic is very semi transparent too so even though it is covering the IR port..it still works fine! I like the look of the 5100 and this added protection for my 6590 is great...the best part? I paid $3.99 a piece for them.

thanks, I think you sold me. you scored on this one. I love the 6590, it kicks butt, this should be cool. I looked (admittedly not real hard) at daydeal.com, where exactly do you find these little gems?
Thanks,

Good to hear someone else likes the idea!
I got mine from daydeal via eBay which is why the price was so low. I was also curious as to where they were on the daydeal site though and I found them under the 8390 faceplates for 14.99!
The eBay listing said they could be for a 8390 or 6590 but it fits my 6590 perfectly without any mod so they should be listing them under the 6590 plates too. I would go with eBay to get the much cheaper price. Anyway, hope you like the housing as much as I do.
