P800 now, 6600 later.

You will most likely end up using the P800 more than the Nokia 6600. The P800 has a lot of flexibility since it uses a touchscreen. If you need Bluetooth, camera, and Java, without the touchscreen, the best choice is the SEMC T610 or T616 since they are able to synchronize with Outlook and are mainly used as phones.

Kind of irks me, when people ask to compare a touch screen phone to a non touch screen phone. I've used most every phone since 1984. Even the Orange MS smartphone cannot compare with the P800, simply because it's input methd is so different. The new upcoming Treo 600 may be the only comparison to the P800 in terms of usability, because the keyboard input is close enough to the touch screen, and I believe the Treo is touch screen as well. The old Treo 270 was crap, so that keyboard doesn't count. I believe the new Treo 600 will give the P800 a run for it's money, but I believe the battery life on the P800 will blow the Treo away.

If you want a phone, more than a PDA, the P800 will have a lot of functions you won't use. The new Nokia 6600 and Siemens SX1 looks like real winners, ableit in the slow-poke keypad input grade of smartphones. A real smartphone needs a smart way to input. Touch screen and keypad are not comparable.

For those that like the Pocket PC platform, you might want to go the two item route.

1. HP iPAQ 1945 or 2215 (Both have BT)
2. SE T610/616
3. T-Mobile T-Zones Pro

You end up with a novelty camera on the T610 (flash accessory coming soon), and a unlimited GPRS internet connection, albeit slower than the VPN one w/o public IP address. Allows you to MMS, SMS, alter photos, switch between your BT headset and phone using various 3rd party software.

Now you don't always have to carry the bulk if you don't want to. Both items are relatively small and since they can be split apart into different pockets, it actually feels like you're carrying less.

Now, the bad part.. two different chargers. But, since battery life is decent on both products, you get the benefit on two separate batteries as well. Anyways, just something for you folks to consider.

I always end up switching between my P800, and HP iPAQ 5555 + SE T616 Combo. I cannot make up my mind because I have different software needs on a given day.

I have the same experience as virtualdynamix. Realistically, the P800 is quite good for a first generation device. But sometimes I need extra functionality that my iPaq has. I have a feeling that sometime next year we may not have to make this choice as the smartphones will be far more sophisticated than they are now.

Tough choice I say Nokia

Based on what I have read the Nokia 6600 will not be available until the 4th quarter, if then, so there is a bit of wait, whereas the P800 is available now, and has been for some time.

Also, by the time the 6600 is available, the SE 900 should be too, so that would be the relevant comparison, not the P800.

I would say go for the P800.....The 6600 is just gonna be another mono-Nokia with a better screen,by the time it comes out the P810/900 will be out already!.

Im guessing the 6600 will annoy you with:

mono sound output
memory card under the battery
digital rights management(cant send sounds to other phones via MMS or email)
its a Nokia....Owning a SE phone is just so much "cooler"

6600 got a fatty looking and cartoon like shape, very wide and looks ugly !

oh, this is going to be a tough decision.... 6600, P800, P900 lol...they're all nice. I just get paranoid with a touch screen.
