Does anyone here interest in S40 startup logo? I'm going to convert some Nokia 8290 logo (I found from the web) for S40. I will post some logo here in these couple days.

but where to get the data cable?? i need it.. but cannot find it.. otherwise i cannot upload to my s40.. right?? =(

If you don't have a data cable, the only choice will be a Palm or a notebook computer. However, I can't find any Palm application to upload logo to S40. I'm thinking to write one right now (yeah, still thinking...)

Have u ever try Monkey Logo ?? maybe it should work :P and yes i do want the logo please ) me myself haven't try the monkey logo :P let me know OK

I think Monkey logo is for Nokia only. In fact, S40 has a different bitmap format. Nokia bitmap just has 2 colors, black & white. However, the S40 logo has 4 different colors. Plus, it has specific palette. If the palette is wrong, the logo will be messed up.

Also, the bitmap size is different. Nokia bitmap size is 84x48 pixels while S40 bitmap size is 104x64 pixels.

Here are some bitmaps I convert for the S40. If you have any logo would like to convert but don't know how, you can send to me and I can convert for you.

You can save the picture on your hard drive. Then you can use the S40 utility to import the bitmap into your S40.

oh.. can u tell me how to convert bitmap into s40 format?? using what software??

i want to convert some for myself.. but dunno how to do...

and.. what i have focus if i want to find the pic for the logo??

again.. how about the closing logo.. the earth... can i replace it?? and other icon i can replace??

thx thx.. =)

You can only replace the S40 startup logo. None of the other pictures can be changed in the phone. Remember to turn off the text greeting message. Otherwise, you won't be able to see the startup logo.

I'm using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.02 to do the job. First, you have to export the build in Siemens logo to a bitmap file. From the file, you need to extract the palette and save it into your hard drive. Or, you can save one of my logos and extract the its palette.

Next, grab a Nokia startup logo and increase the bitmap size to 104x64 pixels. Don't try to resize the bitmap because it will change the shape of the picture!!! Then, convert the bitmap to 16 colors and load the saved palette into the bitmap. Done!!!

oh.. so do u mean that i either choose the greeting message or the opnenning logo???

and can u upload more logo?? hehe.. since i want to see more choices.. hehe..

Sure, I can do it when I have time. It really takes me awhile to search for Nokia logo anyway.

cake...

i got some problem about connect the s40 with the PC (window ME) through IrDA...

at first.. i installed the driver of the infrared.. and it worked alright.. when i turned on the IrDA of my s40 (the receive IrDA)... the PC can detected the s40.. and it showed up a icon called "widelink" (something like this.. i am not sure.. haha..)... and i also can upload some simple messages to the s40...

then.. i tried to use the "XIND connect viewer" (again.. not sure the name is.. but i mention u should know this.. ) to connect the s40 and the PC... but this time.. the XIND thing said it cannot detect any device...

so.. what can i do?? i sure that the IrDA can work properly.. but the XIDN cannot detect it..

i need the XIDN since i want to upload the greeting logo by using that..

so.. can u help me??

You need to set the COM port in the connect viewer program, then you need to sync your S40 with outlook at lease once in order to have the setting works correctly.

oh.. really??

um.. let me try try when i off work... hehe...

actually.. i dunno how to sync the s40 with the outlook tho.. haha...
