Finding 850Mhz freq. on Net Monitor - S56

I just got an S56 and enabled the Net Monitor thingie on it. Can anyone tell me how I can tell if 850 MHz is running in my area using the utility?? I searched the forum and even looked at the link on the download page of the utility but I still have no idea. Thanks in advance!!

In short, you'll see channel numbers 128-181 and 233-239 if ATTWS in your area is on Cellular A Block.

okay, i enable it with my sl55 and all i see is above the 600 range for att gsm, however im wondering since my sl55 is only 1900mhz capable besides the 900/1800, would it be able to detect 850 mhz? meaning does the net monitor only search for 1900mhz in my phone or will it search for 850mhz even though my phone doesnt supports it?

note: does the network monitor operate independently from the siemens phone? and that its only a program in the siemens phone once install, in other words, it operates the same for all siemens phone and you get the same result regardless of the model of the phone? so if i have a s56 and a sl55 in front of me and i enable the net monitoring, will it show the same result?

#1 Your net monitor will only show signals in the frequencies that your phone supports. So it won't show GSM850 channels on your phone. Good news is that the FCC just approved the SL56 which operates in the 850 and 1900 Mhz bands.

#2 I think I understand your question. If you're looking at the Serving Cell screen, both phones should show the same information except for signal strength may be slightly different. And if you're not right near a cell site - one phone may be using a different cellsite than the other - so the CID would be different. And, if GSM850 is active in your area, the S56 would show channel numbers in the 100's if it was picking up a GSM850 signal, where your SL55 will not show those channels - b/c it can't receive them.

What is the Net Monitor and how do you enable it?

I have an S56 unlocked from Cingular using on the Rogers AT&T network in Canada. Just wondering if there is a way on the phone that I can tell if Im using the 850 or 1900
