Samsung n400 data cable help

I currently have the Samsung n400 and I bought it from a friend. It came with a data cable... how do I use this and what exactly can I upload/download? Any help is useful. Also, I hear I can't upload/download screen savers and stuff like that, but can I move ringtones from a file on my puter to my phone? Thanks, Matt
