Download/Upload Wav Files Here!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: L Bo

Due to the success of the Midi thread in the Nextel forum, I'd like to see how well a Wav thread would do here since the series 60 phones are capable of such as ringtones and mail alerts.

So the time has come to cut up your favorite songs down to the good parts and show what song plays when your phone rings or receives mail.

Currently, I have the corny "You Got Mail" from AOL as my alert (until I can get the "Crank Yankers" kid that says "You Got Mail", "You Got Mail", "You Got Mail, yeah!!") and Beenie Mack's "Mack Bi)ch" as my ringtone.

Holla back and show me what you're working with!

Posted by: nemik

got many nice ones but can't post them because as they are too big. for my main ringtone i have Nek - La Vita E (italian dance song), when my girl calls, i have haddaway - what is love (friends crack up when they hear this), for my sister i have that barbie song, one of my other friends i have Youz a hoe by ludacris. its great.

At my earliest opportunity, I'm going to read the book again (I SWEAR!!), but how do distinctive ringtones work?

Posted by: lew2

I like my phone to sound like a phone, so the 3650's ability to use .wav files is great.

Here's my primary ringtone: http://www.tones.plus.com/sounds/bells/ringt706.wav

Sure gets some odd looks in an elevator though...

A more americanized one is here: http://www.hollywoodlostandfound.ne...ds/uniphone.wav

Go to Contacts and select the person you want, then select one of their phone numbe entries. Then select Options->Ringing_tone and then choose what tone you want to play.

This is a good one to attach to the wife's phone number...

Some hit me right now. I had no idea you could use WAV files for your phone. I'm an idiot. I know, I know.

Posted by: specialized999

Here's some for the community that I made myself. All you have to do is place these in your "(C: or E: )sounds/digital" folder for you to be able to select them as ringers! "E:" is the MMC Card (recommended). Enjoy!

Ashanti - Rock With You (ringtone)
50 Cent - P I M P (message ring)
50 Cent - P I M P (ringtone)
******* - Theme (message)
******* - Theme (ringtone)

Dont feel bad, I found out by mistake the day before I posted the thread.

I wish I had time to cut up wav files cause there are some real goodies out there that sound good on the phone. Due to the server restrictions uploading here is maxed at 20kb I believe.

i can host about 5mb of ringtones, im not sure how big these tend to be. 100kb? so that should be enough space for quite a few.

as for what i'd like to see...maybe some bad religion ringtones or nine inch nails or nirvana or rage against the machine or something?

Posted by: nericq

Here's zip file full of them:

I've seen an average when doing a whole song about 1.7Mb. If they get cut down, it shouldn't be no more than 100kb and thats if it a minute or so at a higher kbps & khz.

Posted by: shaolinmonk

if people are using the pc suite then when can save space by keeping them in mp3 format.

since the suite can convert to wav for you

Posted by: L Bo

Problem with that is it does the whole song, although the suite does a good job of compressing. I'm looking for a good mp3 editor so I can chop mine down and post em.

Posted by: dom

MP3 direct cut doesn a great job.

look for it @ download.com

i think thats where I got it

Sorry what i meant was cut the mp3 and leave in mp3 format don't convert to wav and let the suite do that part for you.

mp3 cutter from download.com easy to use....
1 listen
2 start
3 end
4 save as mp3 or wav

done

Posted by: L Bo

Seems to me, that I gotta purchase before I can do anything to edit a file first.

Posted by: shaolinmonk

the copy i downlaoded from downlaod.com gives me prompts but still lets me edit and cut adn paste etc....

i think i only use 3 butttons. start , stop and save. the others you get a prompt asking to buy..sorry haven't used it in a while.

minor question, the 3650 pc suite can convert mp3`s to wav files is it ?so i i were to d/l it from the nokia site would it that function?

Posted by: shaolinmonk

huh?

yes the pc suite for the 3650 from the nokia site will convert the files for you.

just set it up and drag and drop.

Posted by: L Bo

Does anyone have available space to upload WAV's to? A nice variety library would be cool to have for different types of files to be used.

That file called wav.zip had some pretty kick a$$ wavs on it. I especially loved the pulp fiction wavs and something about marie wavs.

Question you think you might have the pulp fiction where Bruce Wilis is say Zed's dead baby.. Zed's dead..

When I get my fileserver redone I can host whatever you want for wavs if you like I use tzo and should be able to house something for wav files as long as someone is willing to help out with some settings for html since I suck bigtime on that. Right now I am running a linuix fileserver and know nothing about apache and really dont care to learn. Let me know if anyone is interested. My connection is a cable modem and I get anywhere from 150-400k downstream and around 30-50k upstream. I dont think this could hog too much of my idle bandwith during the day and would not mind doing it as long as it is not too maintiance heavy.

Would love to contribute to a really good helpful crowd of people.

when i send the files in wav.zip to my phone via bluetooth, it says "not enough phone memory, try deleting files" when i try to save it so i can use it as a ringtone. i barely have anything on my phone, can someone tell me what im doing wrong?

Posted by: L Bo

I've finally decided to chop down some good one liners that I should be able to post here. I keep forgetting that I have equipment that'll do the job for me.

Would anyone be interested in the Crankers Yankers "I got mail!" wav?

You cant use zip files. The phone doesnt know what to do with them, so you'll have to upload them invidually.

you mean send them to my phone separately? i did, i unzipped the files on my computer, picked the ones i liked, then sent to bluetooth. it still gives me the "not enough memory" message. is there a certain way to do this? cuz when i have them on the phone, they show up as wav files and i can play them when they are in my inbox, but i cant send or save them.

Good! But what the hell is that boom at the end?

Posted by: Sir_Q

I don't hear a boom... At least I don't using the 3650 or nokia music player. I recorded it straight from the tv so it may not be the best copy. But its pretty loud and everyone within 15-20ft of my cubicle can hear it. hee hee

Try changing the settings to "save to memory card". That helped me out alot.

great wavs.. let's keep it up..

here's my contribution:

http://frogstar.com/wav/index.asp

one of my favs:

http://frogstar.com/wav/displaywav.asp?fil=hellllo.wav

One thing to keep in mind is that to get maximum volume, you want to ensure that the wav file is maxed out... BUT you don't want to over clip it.. the ashanti and the pimp ring on the first page were severely distorted/clipped which sounded quite bad on my computer and even worst on the 3650...

Posted by: sc0rpio

if you have the full version of nero, it has an app called wave editor that you can use to edit mp3s/wavs...u can slice, it dice it, speed it up, slow it down, amplify it....pretty good app.

Posted by: bigmike20

the link doesnt work.

Windows (2000 anyway) has Sound Recorder under Programs>Accessories>Entertainment.

This is a simple program that can be used to trim Wav files (not MP3s - you'll have to convert them to Wavs using CDEx or other software). It also re-encodes them for optimum file size.

I find that 8-bit mono is the best setting and although I keep them at 44kbps for best quality, you can go lower with acceptable results.

Posted by: tommiwan

I just use Vegas Video 4.0 The settings that you need to use have already been discussed. I have made two files, took about a 30 second part out of these songs

Does WAV files work with our Nokia 3650 phones? What is needed to have them play or be recognised? Can I just email a wav file as an attachment to my phone and save it as I do MID files already?

Posted by: tommiwan

There have been multiple thread on this detailing what you need to do...There are mutliple programs that will allow you to do it. Search the forums for these threads and they will tell you all the details

Posted by: toomer

These files are all great ... but does anyone have any tools that can be used to edit up some MIDI files I have? I've got Bob Marley's Jammin' as a midi, but it's way too long -- the intro takes too long, and the volume is too soft. I just need to do a couple simple edits to it, but don't know what tools would work best.....

Thanks!

Posted by: GaZz

I dont bother with MIDI's, i just use wavs..... seems easier.

I use cool edit to change the wav to 16khz 8bit mono and amplify it quite a bit..... then use my laptop IR to send the file to the phone. I send them to PhoneMemory --> SoundFiles folder, then they appear in the ringtones section.

I have my own webhosting company.

I am willing to put up a site dedicated to ringtone/game hosting.

Though I will need alot of help form this forum for people to send me wavs and midis along with what category they belong....

Look for a posting soon.

Everyone can zip and email me the tones no matter what the size is to me. BUT if you guys do send so many at ones plese type up a text telling me what tone is what and what category they belong in.

Thanks!

i wrote something like this for the SPV that i have been using for the last year. but my girlfriend has a 3650 and this works for her too.

you need a program call "Cool Edit Pro 2" just get your hands on it, please don't ask me for it. this prog does everything.

pick your mp3 and it will convert it to a wav, naturally it will be about 40meg. then it's as easy as cut and paste. cut what you want- click edit- copy to new.

now if you cut about 20 sec of the song then you will notice that the song is still about 4 meg.

which brings us to good old F11 (function 11)
this will allow you to resample the song.

here are the settings you want
Sample rate: 22050khz
Channels: mono with 50%/50%
resolution: 8bit
don't worry about the dither...

hit enter and your 4 meg file becomes about 400k. pretty sweet. i have made over a 1000 ringtones this way and stored them on my 512meg sd card on my SPV. if you need any help other than where to find this prog, feel free to PM me.

since i am in a good mood right now, if you are dying to get a certain ring tone message me and if i have it i will email it to you.

Ultimate Selection

Ok this site is full of MIDI's and Other ringers and PICS!

Heres the trick, NEXTEL doesnt allow you to download ringers from your NET when connected with your phone. BUT we have DATA CABLES

3G upload doesnt allow you to right click and hit save target as.. or any other way of scamming their ring tones out of their site.

I KNOW A WAY THOUGH...

I havent gotten my i733 PF yet, so i havent checked out the SPECS.. but im sure L BO or someone will do it asap cuz they have the loader and the phone and smarts.

Ok when u click PREVIEW or PLAY to listen to a ringer, find the ones u like. All you have to do is HIT PREVIEW and listen to it somehow... Then go to your Hard Drive in your PC, go to your TEMP. Internet Files, they are all saved their because they are TEMPORARILY sittin there in case u choose to listen to the same RINGER it can load 2 times as fast. so when in your temp. internet files, click COPY and paste to somewhere in ur ringers folder, and load to ur phone bata bing bata boom.

A few lil helpfull hints, when you register... It asks for a 10$$ donation, U DONT HAVE TO PAY!!!! ok? dont get fooled.

If you cant find the section with the VOICE RINGERS... choose a sprint phone as ur phone, and it should allow you to listen to VOICE RINGERS....

even if u did have a phone where it allows u to download ringers from the NET... click SEND TO LOCKER, it sends the ringer in their, modify's it to fit ur phone, and u dont have to pay the 10$ FO REAL!!! I know it ASKS YOU, but its only asking, not demanding!

Here is my contribution from the old cartoon speedracer

Posted by: tmonkey

I start with an MP3 and use MP3trim (http://www.logiccell.com/~mp3trim/) to pick 30 seconds or so that i want for my ringtone. i then use dBpowerAMP Music Converter (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm) and convert the trimmed mp3 to a wave at 16.000kHz, 8 Bit, Mono. File sizes are tiny (average 200-600KB for 30 seconds) and sound quality is fine for what the speaker on my 6600 is capable of.
