ok, i got it to work here's the settings for those who need it:

create a GPRS connection
description: Fido GPRS
connects to: The internet
Access point: internet.fido.ca
user name: fido
password: fido
primary dns: (leave blank)
secondary dns: (leave blank)
IP address: (leave blank)

then,

create a proxy connection
connect from the internet
connects to: WAP Network
proxy: 205.151.011.011
type: WAP
user name: fido
password: fido

on Data connections

internet connection: Fido GPRS
work connection: Automatic
wap connection: Fido GPRS
Secure Wap connection: None available

on IE options - connections

Automatically detect settings: checked
Select Network: The internet

and thats it.. works for me....

What ROM version are you using?

Is your GPRS account turned on? I'm using the QTEK 1.50.9.1 rom.

Yes, the GPRS is turned on. If you are using the 1.5 ROM perhaps that is the issue since I am using the 1.3.6 xx ROM. You have any idea where I can get the 1.5 ROM?

Did the update put in the exact settings as you have mentioned and still no luck.. At this point I am wondering if this will ever work.

Do you have any other suggestions of items that I may have missed?

i am aware the FIDO support is saying to use the APN as 'wap.fido.ca'. I also tried this and still no luck. When putting my SIM in my other phone the GPRS is working with no issues.

Any other pointers would be approciated.

It sounds like you have not been given the internet APN (Access Point Name) 'internet.fido.ca' and that you only have the WAP APN 'wap.fido.ca'. You will need the internet APN to get both HTML & WML browsing using HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) on the SPV so it's worth asking your network provider to activate this APN on your account.

You should still be able to attach the WAP APN to the WAP connection and browse WML pages using WSP (Wireless Session Protocol)

Try this (I have ammended the settings from romstah)

create a GPRS connection
description: Fido GPRS WAP
connects to: The internet
Access point: wap.fido.ca
user name: fido
password: fido
primary dns: (leave blank)
secondary dns: (leave blank)
IP address: (leave blank)

then,

create a proxy connection
connect from the internet
connects to: WAP Network
proxy: 205.151.011.011
type: WAP
user name: fido
password: fido

on Data connections

internet connection:
work connection:
wap connection: Fido GPRS WAP
Secure Wap connection:

on IE options - connections

Automatically detect settings: do not tick
Select Network: WAP Network

Use wsp://(WAP address) to use the WAP connection
ie wsp://www.google.com/wml

Thank You! it finally works. I called my provider and they enabled HTTP and it all works fine.

I just recented got a 8380. How did you guys get it to work on fido. I am in edmonton. All I got is no service . Anyone can help?
