A couple of newbie questions

Hi guys, I just recently got the SCP 5150 phone. Still trying to get the hang of it.

Questions:

1. I can't seem to find the connection kit anywhere in the Houston area. I was wondering any of the pda data cables would work with the phone?

2. Is there any easy to use software to turn mp3 files into MIDI files?

Any help on this would be great

Most Sprint Retail Store in Los Angeles, CA got the cable you just got to ask for it by "Wireless Internet Connection Kit" and normally it is in the back.

Not sure how you can turn mp3 into midi

But it is quite easy to dl midi from the internet.

Mp3 to midi
Try going to www.download.com and check under the audio section. Last time I was there, I think they had something to convert either wav or mp3 files to midi (don't expect a good conversion)
As for the cables, if you can't find them at sprint stores....EBAY!!!

Try contacting Sprint to see if they can ship you a cable, because unfortunately, no off the shelf cable is compatible. Secondly, MIDIs are completely different from MP3s, so you can't convert mp3s to midis but you can vice-versa. Think of apples and oranges, midis are actually instructions to your sound card telling your sound card to imitate or (you'll hear this word a lot) synthesize a particular instrument. Whereas mp3s are actual recordings of sounds like music which are highly compressed.

Hope that clears up some for ya

Thanks for the input guys.

I'm currently borrowing a co-workers cable and software to see if it's really worth all the trouble trying to find the kit. After an hour of playing with it, I've made up my mind and am going to find one. Rumor has it, it goes for 39.00 now!
