This time I wanted to do it all so I downgraded to A22, ran Crack2d, and flashed to A53_nosound. Now there are more changes than when I went from A38 to A39. It seems that having the EEPROM unlocked makes a big difference when flashing. With the A38 -> A39 upgrade the startup animations, pictures and shutdown image all stayed AT&T, now with the EEPROM unlocked everything went to the Panasonic animation and screens. Also the WAP icon was originally named "Browser" and now is named "Vodafone live!". The font is bold when entering text & numbers in A53 as reported in another post. The shortcut icon for the camera on the bottom right of the screen was a small arrow and now is a picture of a camera. The camera & messages icons have switched places. Finally, there is a kb counter on the top left of the browser window when surfing. Also with the EEPROM unlocked I was able to upload the WallBreaker .ctc file and switch from internal games to infusio. Yea, a new game to play, although it is in italian, but who needs instructions for WallBreaker anyway Oh, and I learned that flipping the switch from UK English to US English under Mobile Variant in CB2000 is a bad thing. It actually removes English as a selectible option and defaults the phone to Dutch. Other languages are still available and flipping the switch back restores UK English, whew! One other possibly bad thing for CB2000 v1.35c and A53 is that the "@" or "m>"shortcut key doesn't seem to be recognized in the mobile variant section and presents a error that the setting was unreadable. The down side is that the press & hold to start the browser immediatley doesn't work anymore. The single tap to go to the browser menu and then select "start browser" does work. Hopefully there will be a newer version of CB2000 that addresses this. So, to sum things up, flashing with a EEPROM locked phone will keep the carrier specific options in place and just upgrage the firmware with minor changes. Flashing with the EEPROM unlocked will reset the phone to the default OS (Panasonic) options - startup & shutdown screens, icon names, etc. Now, to find a way to rename that Vodafone live! icon back to Browser Got more! Feed the phone and watch it grow ![]() -Mike |
