Is it possible to factory reset the GD87, i've upgraded to A53 and find the phone extremely sluggish. i flip the phone to answer a call and the phone takes about 3-4 seconds to respond to key presses.... kinda annoying...
any help appreciated..

hi ziro i have just upgraded froma19 to a53 and am having the same prob i was using a vodafone 64k sim card and found that by using a 32k card all worked ok
let me know how you get on also i was told you cannot downgraid the software

did you reset it with CB2000?

Posted by: ziro

strange you should say that bassie01, because I originally went from a22->a39 and was still having problems, key response times were awful.
When I fire up cb2000 everything looks fine , but when I did the usual reset I never got a confirmation message saying anything was wiped. I just guessed that it did it anyway. maybe you could let me know the exact message I should be getting on the phone after the reset.

btw a thought just occurred to me, does cb20000 still *see* information even if you don't cover pins 4 and 10.

amex,
unfort i don't have a 32k sim handy, i wonder if i went in and explained would they give me one. and as for the downgrade i can go from a53 to a22 again, but lose all the benefits of the new software.

thanks for the help....

hi z just wondering if you are using o2 or vodafone? if you are using vodafone just go to ant store and they will change the sim for you the 32k sim says irl vodafone the 64k sim says vodafone ie on the phond display
this is the second phone that i have had this problem with in the past few months both gd87s i have been told by the repair shops in uk and dublin that it is happening to all after the original software on phone is upgraded something to do with a power problem
another problem i am having on both phones is if i am in an area of low reception for any period of time all calls go to mailbox even when i come back to full cover unless i make a call out then all is ok again
hope you get the sim sorted will be interested in seing if you have a 32\64 sim card and what network u are on

amex,
ok, thats sounds good, i'll give that a go.
I'm on vodafone, and currently the display says vodafone IE, so i guess i have the 64k sim.
I recently (few weeks back) went to the swords branch and got a new sim cause the other one went "bang" ....just stopped working...??!! sim rejected message...

all the symptons you had i have the exact same, strange cause i had the "full coverage-> to mailbox" problem with my nokia 6110 too. then again it was with the same sim...!
I called vodafone (on my land line) and let them know the problem, even though I knew how to solve it. they called my phone and it went to my voice mail. they asked me to reset the phone, i pretended i did to see what they said. they then said they took my phone off the network and reset it. i didn't see any bars go and come back so I don't know if they did.
they called my phoen again and sure enough it went to voice mail again...they called an engineer (!) and then told me that they needed to do some work on something or other.
wait for it......
they said i needed to turn my phone off for 8 hours ... ha bleedin ha....needless to say i had to make a call in the next 8 hours so i was back online....
anyway... i dunno.. maybe its a sim problem... it hasn't happened recently but it wasn't that regular either so i'm not sure....

i'll get that 32k sim and see what the crack is....
hope this sorts it out...
cheers amex...
z.
