Sharp GX20 or GD87 ....Maybe X70

I may not be as loyal to panasonic as some of you guys but this new phone "Sharp Gx20" looks sweet. Anyone here actually compare the gd87 and the gx20 side by side? The x70 looks sweet but I don't think I'll be getting that because the screen size itself shrunk even though the pixel size is still 132x176. I'm thinking of getting a new phone until the X71 comes out in spring according to Lost rebel!

Interesting on the surface it looks cool, especially the resolution of the primary display and the camera....20s motion video and a macro picture mode (640x480-). however, no html, xml, chtml, imode, bluetooth, email, no way to do anything with video but send to other gx20 users.

On the flip side, the x70 is only a mild upgrade to the gd87. There are many upgrades that are noteworthy though...including bluetooth, syncml, offline infusio, wave files support, choice of shutter sounds, active flip, time moved off the main area of the display, louder ringer, themes etc.

BUT I will probably need to wait for x71 which adds J2me, sdram, motion video, megapixel camera, mp3 and I have heard maybe 802.11 support! and yes, coming in the spring or so I am informed.

Thanks for the info rebel! This sure does help.......It would be nice to see a GX20 for myself.....X71 should be worth it!

My suggestion is go for GX20...

If you are rich, get them all... :P

Seriously,

I will get a GU87/GD88/GD87 for really cheap. The current price for a brand new is around 300$US locked...

I will save money to get a brand new GX20... It's totally a sweetest phone on the market.!!

About X70? I don't think so, the screen is just as same as current GD/GU serie... Bluetooth?? The outer screen is just too damn simple... at least give us OLED or color screen.... sigh.,..

No doubt about it... GX20 seems to be the sweetest phone out there for the next couple months or so... I just hope it's not so voda exclusive

there are few improvements than that on the GX20. The camera is way better than the X70 (350k CCD), and the 7 colour flash is quite fun to use. You can also retouch pics with loads of effects like embossing, oil painting or ripples. The screen is also light years ahead of any other GSM handset. With the handset manager software, you can transfer the video clips to your PC via infrared/cable. You can also send them to more than just GX20 users...

Many of these things are standard on the GX20, like the ability to move/remove the time/date, and choice of shutter sound, support of Wav files for MMS. Bluetooth would be nice.

Do you have any pics of the X71? Or any idea what it looks like? It sounds really good.
By the end of Q1 2004, the GX30 will be out, also with megapixel cam and SD slot.
as Panasonic are one of the few manufacturers yet to launch a megapixel cam over in Japan yet, I'm not sure of their ability to bring one to the rest of the world in the next six months.
