(weee! first post)

Yep, that happened to me too. It took me 5 days to learn not to have keys and cellphone in the same pocket. It got scratched on that colored patch on the back as well.

That was never a problem with the Nokias I've had earlier. You'd think that when they make a phone that expensive they'd put more effort into making the display tougher. Especially when it is so exposed as it is on the SL55.

I don't like making new threads, so I'll try *my* question here first. (Beware of thread-hijackers )

On my SL55 display I get a text telling which network I'm on (N NetCom GSM). Now I KNOW what network I'm on, since I'm paying my bills to that company, so this is 100% useless information for me and it takes up a lot of the display so I can't see my background picture properly. Does anyone know how to remove that? Or change it into " "?

Click click on this link and "Save target as" then...

Menu -> Setup -> Display -> Logo -> Find the image you want to use -> Select -> Select -> Ok -> Ok

Worked for me!

is it possible to order a replacement front? or get a demo phone for a few bucks and take it off that one? i saw a demo sl5 6on ebay for like $5. but its a demo so its probably scratched..
i left the plastic on mine for a few days. i cut it right along the silver trim so it didnt hang off the phone. but it started peeling up. now i want to try something like what they put on computer monitors when they're new... that plastic stuff thats on the screen.. i want to get one of those and cut it to match the screen and see how that lasts. anyone tried that?

FWIW:

I tend to leave the little plastic film on there straight out of the box. It's a nice face protector, I cut the little pull tab piece off with some scissors so it doesn't look too annoying. This will usually last me 6months or so....

ps - and no I don't leave the plastic on my leather furniture at home...

I noticed in my s56 manual that they tell you to take the plastic off immediately. It says:

Note: Your phone's display is delivered with a protective film. Remove this film before getting started. In rare cases the static discharge may cause discoloration at the edges of the display. However, this will dissapear within 10 minutes.

I don't think that's a serious problem (though hearing about ESD makes me nervous), but it's the first time I saw directions in the manual regarding the plastic film.
