I have owned a S40 for quite awhile now and had the firmware upgraded to 2.9.0 a long time ago.

My question is, the RF performance is awful on my S40, (Blanking audio on my end, my voice breaking up on their end. ) do any of the firmware updates improve RF performance?

I really like the UI on this phone, and I can deal with the poor battery life, but I need better RF performance.

I suggest that you get your S40 upgraded because every SW below 3.2.0 is unstable and buggy. My S40 (with SW 3.2.0) works great on the Dutch Vodafone network. RF is good in my opinion. I can´t say if it´s the software, but it could be.

I think I´m just lucky because my phone hasn´t any problems so far. I own it for a month now and I´m still a happy user.

how do you check the firmware version?

you can check the SW version this way (you´d better used the search function, because a lot of threads have this topic): on the main standby screen press *#06# and than use the upbutton on the side and there it is: you software revision!
