Geez, the coolest phone ever with such a terrible flaw. .. After 4 months i love my sl55 more and more as the days go by, but the useage has taken its toll. the screen is badly scratched mostly due to pocket wear (keys and a crotch rocket will do that ya know...) she is in dire need of a makeover. I know this has been a hot topic, but SOMEBODY out there has to know how to get ahold of new housings.. i wrote siemens and they dont offer support in the states for this particular model!!!! So any help would be greatly appreciated!!

seriously, not to be redundant, but i completely messed up my face plate within a week of getting it. don't put it in a pocket that has anything besides a wallet in it.

not sure what was more discouraging. that, or bouncing my sidekick off the pavement and into a some running water and watching it fry before my eyes, a day after scratching the sl-55.

bad tech week, amigos, bad tech week!

Man, you guys are making me worried! I just moved over from being a Nokia fan and always liked the way that my Nokia's would survive any impact. I've seen Nokia's dropped from a second story onto a parking lot and survive (6160)

Are Siemens phones a little more fragile?

I didn't read above that they said there phones didn't survive they just got scratched up. Siemens phones are very well built. I'd say better quality than Nokia.

I don't think the phones were made to be dropped. Whether it is a Nokia or Siemen. However both have models that are well built and can withstand dropping. But you cannot compare a 51XX or 61XX nokia to todays phone models. They are just built different. I am sure the brick phones of the 80's could withstand a nuclear blast.. Phones are more delicate today, and yes of course they should be able to withstand normal everyday use, but when you drop a phone onto the pavement that is just careless
