This is really pissing me off!! I get a SMS to the phone and it goes and starts playing the midi file i set up for it like it should.

all is great, but in order to shut it up, i have to unlock the keyboard first, THEN, press a buton. Why can't i just press a button to stop the rining, like when i recieve a phone call...? Sometimes it can take up to 3 seconds to unlock the keyboard!! I hate that you have to hold and WAIT for it to unlock.. is there no short cut?

anyone else hate this or found a good solution. I don't want to use a shorter midi file because i want to ensure i hear the SMS message.

Other than this.. i love this phone !!!

I think if you press and hold the * button for a second or two, it will stop the ringing without unlocking the phone. I know this works on incoming calls, but I don't use SMS, so I'm not positive about its use for messages.

i just tried this... i hit every key on the keypad and tried holding down a few keys for a few seconds. the only key that does anything is the # key.

The problem is, if i tap any other key, i get the message saying "keypad locked" and it waits about 3 SECONDS on that screen before going back to the regular screen.. THEN i can hit the # key for 2 seconds to unlock the phone, THEN i can hit a button to shut the phone up.

is is a total of about 5 SECONDS of me holding the phone, trying to shut it up - making me look like an idiot. After spending $300 on a phone, I don't like this at all..

This is different for phone calls and alarms which silence as soon as you tap any key on the phone.

other than this - - i LOVE THIS PHONE !!

anyone have any ideas or experience the same thing?

First of all, I don't have a S55, but I am familiar with Siemens phones so I have to assume it is the same for S55.

The best solution seems to be a short notification sound. Ever thought of that?

Furthermore, when the phone displays that it's keypad is locked, you don't have to wait 3 seconds for it to return to normal standby screen. You can press # right away...
