Hi,

I'm aware of T-Mobile's issues with the S40 but I'm trying to help a friend. Up until recently, her S40 was pretty much useless, exhibiting the symptoms detailed in other posts.

I got a hold of her S40 and tonight, I turned it on and it seems to be working well, EXCEPT for sms. It can send out but it can't receive. For example, I send an sms to the S40 from my S55. My phone reports "message delivered" but the S40 shows no signs of anything coming in. I leave voicemail but again, the S40 does not report it.

Anybody know why this is happening and perhaps know how to get around the problem?

Hi,
Yes, i have the same problem too. just recently with T-Mobile only. ATT is fine. does firmware upgrade will help on this?
anyone with info will help.

Btw, where area are this happening.

The S40 not reporting incoming SMS is probably not related to T-Mobile network problems. It rather seems to be a messed up file system. Try a reset (see manual).

You're right - that fixed it.

Not that I'm complaining though but I don't get it. Did T-mobile fix the problem already? Everything seems to work fine with my friend's S40 now - incoming and outgoing calls and sms all work.

Any idea why it works now?

No idea. Maybe T-Mobile updated the tower software in the meantime... However, the SMS problems weren't related to the T-Mobile problems. Sadly they happen to the S40 quite often.
