Hi. I checked out some of the archived posts on the SL55 and SL56. They both seem pretty much the same with the SL55 having a few more data features that havent been locked as Cingular did with the SL56. Also, the SL55 is a world phone. However, I live in NY and am confused about the 800 vs 850mhz issue. I have T-Mobile and would like to know which one would be better for me in terms of signal and frequency and just overall. The SL55 or the SL56? Can I use the Cingular version SL56 on T-Mobile if I insert a T-Mobile SIM? Thanks for your help!

The 800 vs 850mhz issue is there is not one. Both refer to the same band. CDMA, TDMA and Analogue all called it 800, for some reason GSM calls it 850 but in fact it is one in the same. As for T-Mobile is does not matter as they do not have anything on that band and as of now do not allow roaming there.
The SL55 has 900/1800/1900 MHz. The first two for Europe and Asia, the 1900 MHz for North America. the SL56 has 850/1900 MHz only, therefore it is not a world phone like the S56.
You can get a unlocked SL55 and put any SIM card in it you want. Also it will not be locked down like the Cingular, AT&T and T-Mobile version.
To answer your question - Can I use the Cingular version SL56 on T-Mobile if I insert a T-Mobile SIM? - the answer is no unless you get it unlocked, another reason to get the SL55 if you are going with T-Mobile.
