Posted by: eurotrashboy

ONLY one reply!?? That's amazing... i have a million questions to ask you.....i think everyone does!!! can you post a review of it??? a mini-review perhaps?

the only difference i see in the user interface is instead of the communicam there's a "communiCORDER"....

well i was gonna order the p800 anyday now..but i think i'll hold off for now !

Posted by: tekno_geek911

I just wanna upgrade my P800 to UIQ 2.1.....

BTW is the flip keypad removable?

Thanks

Posted by: fbakirdan

Your the man! It looks great, now to figure out how to get my hands on one.

The first question how much?
The second question did you have a P800 before?
The third question if yes to question two what are the differences and do you like them?
Last question the individual you bought the phone from have any idea when this will be released?

Regards,
Frank

Posted by: samantha2001

nice, very nice! thanks for the pics

Posted by: oferlaor

questions:
1. Can you tell us how much it cost you?

2. Any more info on the MS Duo slot? Any chance it's a MS Duo pro slot?

3. Does the software for syncing with P800 work with it? Can you try and install the snapshot software and see if it works?

If so, lots and lots of snapshots, please....

Posted by: ill trooper

Can you tell us how the camera is? Maybe even post a picture or two taken with the phone's camera?

Posted by: ill trooper

...and what about that 'battery' icon draining backwards?

Posted by: Jalal

Cool find...You're a lucky guy

Posted by: wolwol

now am jealous!
great pics!
congrats!
1st owner of p810/900 @ hofo!!!
hehe...

Hmm, something just doesn't look right to me!

Posted by: Herr Bauhaus

These pics can be found on several places on the web: http://www.kartali.com/P810/

This Simon Desser story sounds more like a made-up story to me, if he is real, let him make a picture of his P810/900 in front of a monitor with HoFo on it, then I will believe that he actually has one in posession. And it will take a lot more to buy the Spanish little cellphone-shop story...

i think it's bs too

Posted by: Herr Bauhaus

It is BS; first post here on the forum with this uncredible story, nah... These phones do not fall pre-release in the hands of

* Spanish small GSM stores
* .. followed by a tourist who unknowingly buys a very sought-after prototype

If it would be an insider in SE, well I could buy that story... This sounds like a teen with some attention deficit...

if it sounds too good to be true ...

Posted by: Ludwig

Either way it looks bad a$$, must have, screen looks sweet, and to think I just got a p800....grrr. I guess once I get a p900 my p800 will be a backup or beater phone? NEVER!!!

Totally agree, Ludwig! Have put the phone on my most-definitely-must-have list and have been anxiously waiting for it to be released officially... It is soooooooo sweet!!!

ok guys, you know what. maybe flaming this person and just making your own asumptions that he/she is lying and making up stories. Looks pretty real to me. Cheers man, hope you have fun with your P810.

The pictures as posted by GeesterD leave no doubt, and therefore my RESPECT as stated in the reply above. I think everyone agrees (and actually did so in this thread) that a story like described by Simon Desser, supported by publicly available images does not sound very convincing, also taking the fact into account that this post was Simon Desser's first post on HoFo.

GeesterD provided the evidence that the P900 is in the possession of a HoFo member and this only makes me happy knowing the machine is out there and should make it to the stores shortly. No flames were intended with my earlier posts, it only expressed sceptism on my side...

Cheers,

Christophe

Posted by: AdmiralAK

interesting...I am not gonna buy it though

Posted by: P888

But why hasn'y ANY of the questions regarding this P810/P900 been answered by those having the unit? Why????

Similar posts in other forums have been posted regarding someone or another having the P810/P900 in his possession. But when questions start flowing in about the specifics of the P810/P900, non of the questions are asnwered! Why???

Posted by: vwvwvw

I have no problem believing that a P900 exists in the hands of somebody (obviously GeesterD got to play with one) but the story about the Spanish Shop and Simon Desser is still unbelievable!

BTW What does GeesterD’s post have to do with Simon Desser’s post… do we have a split personality here? Are there two different ppl? What’s with posting a picture and then disappearing. If you’re for real (even if you’re a SE Tech taking pixs at work) we’d rather have you enlighten us not just startle! Stick around and post some answers to our questions… if you need an example of how to do it right you could learn something from viewing Bangelboy's presentations… he does a great job!

Anyhow thanks for posting the pic… I’ll add it to my collection.

Chistophe, Just because someone registers yesterday and then makes a post IMO doesn’t necessarily make him a HoFo member (if you know what I mean). If he can stick around and contribute to us (other than just startle) than I’ll call him a member!

He could just be stopping by for a quickie

spanish shop no way.... maybe spanish fly.... hahahahah

guys just try it put a bid in a ebay aucition on any plasma screen...... with in an hour or so you will get email from people from spain or italy - sorry to bother you but i have the product at my store bla bla bla bla...... so what comes from spain sorry to say does not have a way only out the door.

of course there are right now tons of people with P810/P900 around and only a few of them ones testing them they are under a non-disclosure agreement and if they choose to break them well they will see i guess....

so it is alway interesting for us gadget junkies to get the pics or news or the latest and greatest... but bottom line unless you have a connection we will never see one earlier than official release dates....

that my 2 cents

so as far as i understand it the P810/P900 will not use the new memory stick duo PRO?

a megapixel camera and duo pro support would have been great...but i guess u can't have everything

Posted by: Genghis Khent

Thanks ducsurfer for posting the link and rex-star for posting the translation link

The difference in display is all that really appears really significant to me. I have problems seeing the display on my P800 even when I zoom the font size to large; the screen appears too washed out. However, it could just be me. I had lasix a few months ago and while my nearsightedness was corrected from 20/600 to 20/20 I do need reading glasses. When you are half a century old, you can't have everything.

Anyways, aside from the display, I guess smaller and lighter, more memory (16 vs. 12), better keypad (electronic), T9 input are of some significance, but pretty incremental. I may yet buy it though. As the article (translated) says:

"Sony Ericsson will expect that the Handy Freaks, which a P800 afforded will slam shut anyway also with the P900."

WANNA SELL IT MAN.....

any price... PM ME... . i will take it..

For those of you who didn't get to see or read Simon Desser's original post/link before it disappeared... Here's a link that I found that can fill you in on what it was all about. It "quotes" almost all of what Simon D posted (with the pix) on the MoDaCo forum.

I'm sure most of us in the UIQ section want one.

Posted by: GeesterD

I'll try to answer a few questions
I'm not a Symbian/P800 user, so I don't know what has really changed over the P800, (I've played with one for a few hours) so sorry if I'm telling you about stuff you already have

Firstly, overall size is quite a bit smaller and sleeker than the P800, the "cheap" looking blue plastic has gone, and the look is very reminiscent of the Sony Vaio C1 range of laptops (a big improvement)

The flip, I'm sure WILL be removeable, as it has the "Flip Removed"/Virtual Keypad options in the menu, however on the prototypes it seems fixed.

I've no idea whether it will take Memory Stick Duo Pro, but I think SE would be mad to release a device like this that doesn't?

Any rumours of a 1.3 Million Pixel camrera must have been false, as it has a 640 x 480 VGA camera. (You all knew that already I'm sure)

The "Communicorder" has the following options:-

Auto, Night, Indoor, Outdoor, Message Picture, Message Video (10 secs) and Video (as long as you're free memory allows)
Both Video option include sound

Messaging seems great, even what it classes as regular SMS, lets you attach smilies and even simple animated gifs (Sorry if that's already on the P800 )

MMS, obviously lets you add sound, pictures and video which works well

Under the battery, it says "P810", but in the "System Information" it's called the "P900" and also if you infrared images etc. to a PC, the PC sees it as a P900.

A nice addition (which you know about) is T9 predictive text, that was something that stopped me from buying a P800

I've not tried any Syncing with a PC so I can't comment on that.

I don't know whether P800's play WMA files as well as mp3's, but I put a WMA song on the phone and it played back perfectly in "Packet Video"

Hope this is of interest?

Gee.

Thanks for coming back and giving us an overview Gee. I still want to ask you how are you connected with Simon D... or are you someone different?

From the looks of the pictures, it look like the keypad is really low on the phone, is it hard to use the jogdial while using the keypad?

Posted by: Herr Bauhaus

After having read the review of the Nokia 6600 elsewhere on HoFo, I have no doubt anymore that the P900 will become my next phone. 6600 has no touchscreen, is bulky, and only has miniscule 1x1cm caller ID, really a disgrace!!! And this while I am a livelong Nokia fan...
Any word when the P900 will be announced and when it will be in the stores?
And it is easy to change the language of the Symbian OS? The reason why I ask is that the P800 is a lot cheaper in the US than in the Netherlands but I would definitely need a Dutch OS and T9. If it is easy to change, I can buy my P900 here in the US when it comes out, saving me some money...

WOW. Thanks a lot for the new pics and video. It made my day. I love this phone, it is so much more than the p800 ever was. Much better styling in my humble opinion.

To the owner; Why do you have 2? and i presume from the cd case that the model is now confirmed at p810... since that is what it said in the video. Hopefully this will be released within 3 months, so i can one on a free upgrade!

look forward to some more detailed specs and screenshots.

Posted by: The Rex

nice video! (i actually put the video onto my p800 )

Posted by: Bengalboy

Fantastic Photos!! Damn, how do I get one of these? I got cash if you are interested in parting with yours. As for info I have gotten on the upcoming phone.....December/Q1 on intro. The phones you are seeing are from Beta-Testers or possible units leaked/stolen from the factory. I am told Sony/Ericsson is cracking down on the un-authorized use of the phone prior to introduction, so you guys find out if there are any factory workers we can bribe to get one of these out of France?

Right now the phone is very unstable and has gone through 3 firmware upgrades in the last couple weeks. The screen is beautiful according to my source who has used one. He currently uses a P800 and assures me that it is much nicer than the P800 from a form factor perspective. He also has told me that although the keypad is removeable, it is really something that is very difficult and not recommended for those without some skills. The overall size of the phone is much smaller than the P800 although the screen remains the same size. The phone ships with a larger memory stick and the comunicorder will record sound as well directly to a memory stick until used up if you wish. The camera is supposed to be better, but he can't confirm that. All in all, it appears that the only significant difference is that the phone will have a 65k screen and smaller form factor overall, it is made of plastic although it may look like metal. For my source, the screen and the form factor make it very desireable for him.

Oh yeah, it will be a P900 when released.......

Posted by: vwvwvw

This is wonderful to see... everyone getting excited again.

I'm glad to see that the flip "really" can be removed and the ability to do so is no problem for me

It must be nice to make a video of a P810 using a P810!

Thanks for sharing the pix Christophe

Posted by: ducsurfer

nice to look at but worth the 800 bucks??? hearing with the larger memory stick the added colors etc etc etc...

bottom line with UID 2.1 will be available for the P800 what will really be the difference just a touch better cam and better color screen

definalty NOT worth upgrading..... touch smaller big deal... seems to me like the IPAQ syndrom..... 3650 3670 3760 3870 3970 so i see the same pathern in SE... not going down that road again i learned from that time... would suggest them same to others.

Posted by: xf86

ohh .. after reading all the post !
i just love P810/900 ... !

now gotta a bit with my N3650
hahah .. wondering .. how much lvl of polysound will the new SE P810/900 have , will it have 32lvl like T610 or 16lvl like the old P800 .. ?

Posted by: ducsurfer

for me to upgrade i need at least some major upgrades all i can see is just minor.... hardware wise.... looks and feels like the HP way 3650....3670....3760....3870...3970.....

for me to spend the next 650 bucks - hear the p810/900 will be in the 800 usd range so i would at least:

1.3 if not 2mb pixel camera....
built in 32 if not 64mb ram
should ship with a 256 or 512 mb duo card
so sort of sd slot for a gps card.... so i can use it in the car not that you could read the directions but hear them...
i like the camera idea on the samsung i700

but what i see from the pics i defiantly do not HAVE TO HAVE the p810/900 right away.... all i need is UID 2.1

on the ipaq side i started with the 3670 and then got the 3870.... so left out

just upgrade my gf from a t68i to a t610.... should i have waited and got the P810/900 for myself and let her have my p800 maybe but the 80buck i pay for the upgrade seems to me more reasonable for functionality over waiting for the new once and spending 800 bucks.... so i have the case but i don't feel the need any more to always have the latest and greatest did that on HP... why am i sharing this who really cares right?

well i think it is important to learn that we should not support companies paying for their learning that is what it bottom line comes to.... back in the old days once a product came out it was good for a couple of years (like 10-20) now after 3 month something new is out... wasteful and unnecessary... so i would have preferred for SE to day you have a great phone out lets work on a greater phone... the p810/900 is not a greater phone it an improved p800 that is all....

so i hope the name will be P810 and not P900 it does not deserver the 900 yet....

Posted by: FrozenStar

The 16-bit color TFT will be a welcome upgrade, but the GUI is still 8-bit. It doesn't look like UIQ 2.1 is going to address this issue either. I think the interface design in UIQ is excellent, but it still needs to be polished before it will be up to par with Palm OS 5 and PocketPC 2003, both of which use 16-bit color GUIs.

Posted by: eurotrashboy

the link for the video doesn't work anymore!

anyone have it? im desperate here!

very nice pics i must say i was going to get a P800 tomorrow, but i think i'll get a 3650 and play around with that for a little until the P810/P900 comes out

Posted by: oferlaor

Can anyone with a P810/900 send me their linnea.gdr file?

I would like to see if they changed anything (e.g., if they added more characters to it for supporting new languages, etc.).
