I did a search but i guess no one knows this but there is speakerphone on the 8100. When you make a call, and it says "CONNECTING" before the call starts close your phone. And you got speakerphone, with the back speaker.

Speakerphone implies that the person on the other end can hear you as well. Is that the case, or is it simply a monitor like function?

yes you can talk to it and they can hear you , try it.

all that is is tricking the phone into thinking it's open. the sound still comes from the EARPIECE. if its set on the high volume settings, it gives the ILLUSION of speakerphone. I tried it on 3 8100s with the same result.

Well ok then, I will!
So, you're right it does work, but you have to close the lid fast...as soon as it says connecting. I did the little test with a 3585 on the other end, and I could hear an exact (loud) echo of everything that i said. The one with the 8100 complained that she couldn't hear me terribly well, but she could hear me. I could hear everything she said just fine. While I don't think this would work well in a noisy environment, I do like the little discovery. I hope others get the chance to play with this some more.
Thanks for the tip!

Posted by: CellyCell10

Hmmm...it ain't working for me....when I dial the number and it says connecting I quickly close it and the call is terminated.....is there a specific setting I need to to set.
Thanks

Are you sure you have the 5300??? B/C the one I see under your name is the 5150. I just tried it with the 5300 and work perfectly.

yikes! I have a 5300 and mine keeps hangin gup as well! I was going to test it by calling my voicemail....I press and hold "1" and it says connecting...I close the phone and the call is ended....what am i doing wrong?

its not actually a speakerphone, it just comes out the earpiece cause you are fooling the phone into thinking its open. also there will be an echo on the other end cause the earpiece is pointed directly at the mouthpiece.
this was also taken out in the 1.15sp update of the 8100 software.

That's funny...Mine has the 1.15SP update, and seems to work just fine using the speaker. It doesn't sound that great, or anything crazy like that, but it does work.

ive done this since the 5150.
a different way:
1- open phone
2 - start a call with a hands free earpiece connected to the phone.
3- during the call close the phone.
4- disconnect the earpiece from the phone
the phone will now switch to the mode you all describe.

i realize im jumping in this kinda late but this was one of the few links i found about speakerphone & scp8100. i tried closing the flip after seeing 'connecting' pop up on the phone & it just hangs up.
i know im simple and the fix is simple, but what am i doing wrong?
thanks.
ps. anyone heard of an accessory external speaker for the phone that i can use around the house? i just saw a 'docking station' made by CCM that lets you drop the phone in it, keeps it charged, gives you an external speakerphone at the base & a regular phone handset. thot it was neat, altho they didnt say if it worked w/ the 8100. i dropped em a line to find out.

When I did it, the voice came out of the same earpiece. It did not transfer to the outside back speaker.
