Sagem MyX6!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I currently have a Ericsson T20e but I've just ordered a Sagem MyX6!

For me its considerly cheaper than the other camera phones.

Well anyway, 2 of my friends have a Sony Ericsson.. forgot which one though. T300 or something :S the one with a clip on camera.

And they sent a picture across with infra red which I thought was great as it was the first time I seen it happen.

So main questions will be if anyone is kind enough to answer.

1) Can a Sagem send pictures through to another Sagem phone using Infra-Red?

2) Can a Sagem phone send pictures through Infra-Red to a Ericsson phone?

3) Say I use my new phone to send a picture to another phone the same. Will it display as a picture or give a link to a site?

4) In accordance with question 3, why and when does it give a link?

5) My friend has a Sagem MyX6 and he can't send picture messages. It just says sending and then sending failed. We have not managed to find out the source of this problem yet.

6) Also in the UK, is WAP free for Orange users?

7) What is GPRS? Is it like WAP.. free..??

I think those are it for now. So any help will be deeply appreciated.

Hi!

I am glad you ask it before you buy it.

1. If you like to buy a unlocked one (imported) from Vodafone or Orange... Please make sure it's unlocked in both "SIM" and "Service Provider lock". I did get a unlocked Sagem back in 3 month ago. But it cannot be used in N.America. I tried Fido, Rogers, and even US AT&T sim card. It can read my card information such as contact info, contact number...etc without any problem. But there is NO NETWORK SIGN on the screen all day long. Antenna is just keep flashing... and network search.

Usually in a normal case:
-I know if the phone (sagem X6) is SIM unlocked, it should work in N.America.
-If the phone is LOCKED, it couldn't even read the information in side of my sim card. Usually it will ask the PIN code when it's LOCKED.
-I also tried to config the "NETWROK" under phone setting. There's "Automatic search" and "manual"... I tried bith, and I even manually input the "service provider code" (first time I see this option). It will tell you it's Rogers AT&T or Microcell but it just cannot get any signal!!!!

I had no choice but return it ASAP!
Pro:
-The LCD is really good, on par with Panasonic GD88
-Camera is good, picture quality is on the top 3!
-Lens protection!
-Easy menu system
-Interchangeable housing
-Can use WAV files as ringer
-Record any sound for ringtone
-IR is not picky like Nokia

Con:
-Build quality is CHEAP! like a toy
-Horrible keypad (small key for men)
-Navigation key in the center is very hard to press (BAD)
-Ringtone is one of the worst... volume is not loud at all and sound like they are using a very poor sound card in the phone! (except the one you record by yourself or .WAV file)

I cannot comment on the voice quality or RF performance....

If you try to import one, take your own RISK!! If you really want one, I will suggest you to import it from Hong Kong. Just buy those factory unlocked one (never locked), not with any service provider logo on the phone.

Please see my signature.... the "repeat after me" part....

Good luck!

I actually live in England and have no plans on using it anywhere else to be honest.

But thanks for the post anyway, it was very informational.

Anyone answer the other questions?

Just curious -- I am using this phone with T Mobile in the US and have no problems using it. You to have to select "PCS" under the network settings though -- makes no sense but "GSM" appears the correct network for South America and Europe. I played around with it and voila - it worked. Great sound - good reception. Getting WAP, GPRS, and MMS to work was a pain but it now works (although have not been able to send MMS to ATT and Sprint users -- email works though.)

I got a sagem myx-6 for christmas. I have no trouble sending picture messages or photos. Wap is not free for orange users, it is charged at 10p a minute. GPRS is where you can stay on the internet for free until you request information. this means it does not charge you to read pages but it will charge you to go to another site or click on links etc. i can send photos to other phones however it costs around 30p each on orange. hope i have been of some help.
