hello...I just entered this code into my5300 and changed it to evrc and then to rc4....I saw someone posted on the forum that this was the best setting.....so...what does it do exactly???? I just did it cuz i heard it was the best but I want to know WHY its the best if it is indeed so....

the vocoder type is the way in which your voice in encoded and sent over the phone. I believe evrc is better than 13k, in that it uses less power but as for specifics I'm not sure. I've played with my settings and have yet to notice a difference in battery life, signal strength as some would have you believe these are affected. Try a google.com search for vocoder and you'll get plenty of technical gobbledy-gook to look at.

the only thing i can suggest is that you not use rc1 or rc2, those both use 2g voice and seem to suffer from more errors int he speach. also don't use rc5 as you can't connect to the internet if your phone is set to it.
